Previously, you’ve been couching this claim in ‘other people say’. You didn’t do that here. You said that in your own opinion ‘Obama is not a real black man’ (not an exact quote. The exact quote is above.
We can at least be grateful to PJ for always letting us know what they are.
I’m talking about the reality of white supremacy in the US. Obama is not a black man, he is mixed. White supremacy in the US may label him as black, but I could just as easily call him white.
The black community would say he is mixed. His wife however is black. He and his children are only black in the eyes of white supremacy. This is what I mean by the box, that’s why it’s “people of color” now. trying to put every non-white into a box even though they may or may not get along and have different agendas.
I can see now this board is pretty naive about race issues, I would guess because most here don’t have to deal with it.
This election is hinging on these little nuances though, and the polls are showing this.
Again, just quoting this in case you edit later.
Once again ok, and I’ll say he is not “white” in the US sense either. So what’s the problem?
Could be worse – could claim that he’s actually white because that’s what his mother is.
Yeah, I’ve actually heard this sort of thing in the wild.
That term is new to me. I’ve seen it before only in contexts like “Full HD”, which meant the highest TV video resolution available at the time, 1080p. But now we have 2160p, which is “Ultra-HD”. Maybe you’re underrating yourself. Maybe you should call yourself “Ultra-Black” and assume the guise of a superhero. You can fly around with a black cape and black mask and avenge evils perpetrated by the not-quite-so-black. You’re the perfect model of a Dunning-Kruger racist fucking idiot who’s too stupid to know it.
Yes, I’m the racist. Not you, it’s me for calling out the reality of race relations in the US. Go off to lala land while Trump wins the election and the US becomes a fascist dictatorship.
I would say wake up, but by the time you do it will be too late.
Why in the nine hells would you call any of us racist? What racist thing have we said? Or do you just know our thoughts because your telepathy helmet works?
White person: ‘Obama is not a black man, he is mixed.’
split_p_j: That’s White supremacy!
Black person: ‘Obama is not a black man, he is mixed.’
split_p_j: That’s tellin’ it like it is!
That about cover it?
No, white supremacy, which includes is most white people, says Obama is black.
Your first line is also flawed, the average white person says Obama is black. Change that line to say
White person: Obama is black. That is the starting line.
Just like when they said the Irish and Italians weren’t white 100 years ago.
You got a cite for that??
Fuck you.
“I’m not a racist! I’m just telling you which races are racist, that’s all!”
This is comedy gold.
I have to cite all US society for hundreds of years now? I’ll just say one word, redlining.
That was a white supremacist policy that all most all white people turned a bind eye to and are still benefiting from now.
You can’t’ be serious with this ask for a cite we are talking about overall US policy here, and the office of the president.
Of course individuals may not be racist, its all general.
I was unaware that any posters in this thread had lived that long.
On a serious note, you said the majority of whites were racist. That is a claim. Back it up with cites or retract.
Man alive there are a lot of weird claims here. Most of them revolve around “The Black community believes” or “Black people think” or “White people think” or the like.
There’s a definition of racism that involves the use of power, so I’ll avoid calling anyone racist here in order to avoid that hornet’s nest. But it’s sure as hell bigoted to talk about people in this manner–i.e., to say that, because of the racialized identity of a person, they think a certain way. It’s intellectually lazy, misleading, and bigoted.
There’s an interesting and crucial discussion to be had about Biden’s polling numbers among various demographic groups, including African Americans, Jamaicans, White Americans, and so on. But we gotta peel away that scummy layer of bigotry before we can get to that discussion.
Yes of course, the so called gotcha. There is of course no poll that I can link to that will show this.
Demanding evidence for a claim is a gotcha? How does that work?
They bigotry is part of it though from everyone, it’s baked into US culture. I honestly thought that was known.
For my part I’m saying a percentage of the black community is thinking like this, and the polls and articles linked to are proving that.
We can analyze trends in data and make general assumptions based of that, and in some of my links they are basically saying straight up with I’ve said here.
