And I don’t give a fuck that Rice’s gun was fake. He tried to threaten the cops with it. Anyone would be justified in shooting in that situation.
What about the cops who applauded? Laughter, I can see as a reflex to something absurd, but applause requires a more deliberate effort.

I’m not the one making things up, claiming that I have some sort of magical divine view of things that means I know better than judges and juries, unlike Budget Player Cadet. To know this, you’d have to know exactly both what Rice did (which the video, grainy as it is, doesn’t make clear at all) plus what his intent was (for which you’d have to be psychic).

I’d hope that someone who is in a constant state of terror for his own life would be steered away from a career in law enforcement, but it could just be wishful thinking on my part.

I’m not in constant terror for my own life because there are laws and cops who enforce them. Same as the rest of you. I wouldn’t want the risk or the responsibility of doing that job. Fortunately, others are willing to do it.
