I pit the cops who openly applauded police abuse today

I don’t know where it derives from, but I expect it’s defined as a deviant suite of behaviors including empathy, reciprocity, altruism, cooperation, and a sense of fairness.

No, it’s just a spin on “I’m the smartest guy in any room, so anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot” brand of psychopathic thinking.

I would take it as a variation of this:

Here’s a page on the history of similar phrasings of the concept.

Every time you set a bar, Trump limbo-dances underneath it. Trump’s a bully. And anyone arrested or detained by police needs the presumption of their innocence to be respected.

Actually, I grew up on a conservative baptist household and was quite conservative in my youth. As I’ve aged, I’ve mellowed and become more accepting of the world. So have my two sisters and my father. My mother has not.

If you’re becoming more conservative, it is because, like all too many conservatives, it becomes all about “Fuck you, I got mine!”.

unfortunately far too many of us have been conditioned to believe that if the police simply even want to talk to you, you must have done something wrong and deserve everything you get.

People fervently believe that, right up to the instant they (or their kids) get into legal trouble.

Yes, there is. It’s called psychological projection.

Google says it’s the title of a book by Michael Savage, but I don’t know who originally coined the phrase.

I think it was the title of one of Ann Coulter’s books. I don’t know if she coined it, but I imagine that helped popularize the idea with people who walk past bookshelves.

ETA: Ah, Michael Savage, not Coulter. Easy mistake to make.

In other words: “My rantings are nothing but bile, hate and lies. But it is the other guys who are mentally ill.”

I know it’s already been said, but even police are condemning Trump’s statements. that should, in theory, give Clothahump and other supporters a moment of pause.

Should ain’t Will.

It doesn’t take that long to put them on his ignore list.

Normally I’d think that’s par for the course with him but (as I thought earlier) he’s actually claimed to be a cop before!

Here are some cops pushing back:

Thanks

<<“Trump didn’t tell police to go out & brutalize people as the media would have you believe,” the tweet said. “It was a joke.”>>

So, the media reporting a direct quote is somehow distoring what he said??! It’s not like we can’t watch the speech ourselves.

It should give some other people here, who are ridiculously over-critical of the police, a moment of pause as well.
