I Pit the Empire

C’mon, Commissar! You can do it. I asked you just a few questions in this thread. Here’s a recap:

[ol][li]What was the necessity of the Berlin Wall?[/li][li]Have you renounced your Belarusian citizenship?[/li][li]If you have not renounced such citizenship, how did you manage to avoid the military service obligation on your return trip?[/li][li]If you have not renounced such citizenship, how have you managed to travel into and out of the country without a Belarusian passport?[/li]If you do have a Belarusian passport, why do you insist that you are a soviet citizen?[/ol]

Been to Brighton Beach yet, Commissar?

Trolly McTrollerson is a troll.

This, right here, is a very telling statement. Small scale wars? By the most conservative of estimates, your occupation of Iraq alone has already killed tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians. And yet you, like most Americans, apparently see this as no big deal.

Compare this indifference to the the position of the poster that was pestering me about fewer than 200 deaths around the Berlin War over a period of several decades. Somehow, this is significant, while a much bigger death toll is not? The hypocrisy and willful blindness of American denizens is discouraging, to say the least.

I’m not sure what you expect this to prove. So you haven’t yet killed all the Muslims… Er, congratulations on your self restraint? You criticize Stalin, yet he didn’t kill all the Soviets either… Your point here is weak, assuming it even exists in the first place.

But what do your feelings prove, even assuming you portray them correctly? So, you feel the war was a mistake. What next? Have you punished the perpetrators? Have Bush and his cronies been executed for their crimes? Imprisoned? Fined?

What about correcting the mistakes? Have you chosen a leader that has withdrawn the occupying forces? Do you now have policies in place that will prevent such invasions in the future?

You see, words are cheap, and you’re saying all the same words that were said after the Vietnam debacle. And yet, here you are, still making all of the same mistakes. There is nothing to indicate that the Empire ever learns any lessons from its crimes against humanity, but that certainly doesn’t stop its supporters from flinging wild accusations and invalid criticisms at everyone else.

As stated previously, it was necessary only because we granted the Empire dominion over half of Berlin in a moment of generosity. That was a mistake, and hence the Soviet leadership sought to rectify it by building a physical boundary in order to minimize the effects of Western propaganda on East Germans.

No comment. I see no reason to share personal identifying information regarding citizenship, employment, education, medical history, and the like. I am not in the US illegally; when in Belarus, I am also not there illegally.

Under Bellarussian law, compulsory drafting is applicable only to males between 18 and 25. Assuming that I am a Bellarussian citizen, I would have aged out a long time ago, and thus cannot be drafted. Assuming that I am not a Bellarussian citizen, I cannot be drafted period.

See previous answer regarding citizenship and legality of my travels.

I am not a Soviet citizen in the sense that there is no longer a Soviet citizenship. I consider myself a Soviet because that is where I was born and where my loyalties lie; I see no reason why a person must change his self-perceived identity to accommodate current political trends.

Incidentally, I currently reside near a neighborhood officially known as “Little Saigon.” If you honestly wish to argue that I must cease calling myself “Soviet,” you must also take issue with this neighborhood’s name, yes?

I really, really, really want to have some faith in humanity and believe that this thread is a joke and that no one would really call the U.S. “The Empire” and call themselves a Soviet. Come on, Commissar, show us a fingersnap and be like “awwww just kiddin’ you guys.” Something.

I am not a Trebizondian citizen in the sense that there is no longer a Trebizondian citizenship - or well, a Trebizond. I consider myself a Trebizond because that is where my loyalties lie; I see no reason why a person must change his self-perceived identity to accommodate current political trends.

To repeat a well known quote:

Sorry to disappoint you, my friend, but I am entirely serious.

Why would you find it so hard that anyone would call the US an “Empire” and themselves a “Soviet,” anyway? Surely, none of this is as outrageous as you would like to believe…

Well. let’s find out. Turning to Google:

The phrase “American Empire” (in quotes) returns 846,000 hits.
The phrase “fuck the American Empire” returns 1,040.
The phrase “I am Soviet” returns 8,910.
The phrase “I am a Soviet” returns 22,900.

Looks like a not insignificant number of people share my views, it would seem.

In that case, you have a perfectly valid reason to self-identify as a Trebizondian, and none of us would have valid grounds for challenging that personal decision. We do not have to accept it or agree with it, to be sure (for we may well have our own ways of classifying ourselves and others), but that does not diminish the subjective truth value of your statement.

Ultimately, all categories are in the eye of the beholder, and no subjective category is inherently superior to any other one. To me, for example, most of you are Imperials, and I and my kind are Soviets. To most of you, I am Bellarussian, and you are “Americans.” Each observer uses his own frame of reference to classify the world according to his views; nothing more, nothing less.

With the world population approaching 7 billion, and even generously assuming each of your google hits represents an individual person as batshit insane as you are, you still have insignificant numbers of “supporters”.

For that matter, a google search for “9/11 conspiracy” (without quotes) produces over 5 million hits. That’s a whole lot of fuckwits, not an intellectual revolution.

Your reading comprehension is sub-par, my friend. The Google exercise has no deeper meaning than a demonstration, for John D’Adamo’s benefit, that at least some people do, in fact, refer to themselves as “Soviets” and the US as “the Empire.” Given this evidence, it is irrational to hold a belief that “no one would really” do so.

Also, “batshit insane?” Do you have strong evidence demonstrating that socialists are de facto insane, or is this yet another weak attempt at juvenile name-calling? If the prior, I would like to see said evidence. If the latter… well, simple pleasures for simple minds, I suppose.

A socialist nation like the UK?

It’s a clear case, Herr Commissar, 'cause all the children know they’re all sliding down into the valley, they’re all slipping on the same snow.

We have strong evidence that at least one is.

“your mom is a whore” 570,000 results
“communism is a failure” 230,000 results
“aliens are real” 67,300 hits
“belarus human rights violations” 17,400 results
“america is the best” 3,690,000 results

Seven pages to castigate people the OP referred to in his first post as his brethren, as in

I ain’t his brethren. For him to include me in his family is a direct insult.

I demand a retraction, or satisfaction.

I think you could get some satisfaction from his sistren. Only ten dolla!

Way overpriced.
