RR is the only Doper I’ve ever ignored. I find a small number of others’ posts on political (and related) topics inane and absurdly far fetched, but they are interesting members of the community in broader areas. RR is a one-trick troll-o-pony, monothematically interjecting intentionally contrary blather for the sole purpose of inciting a confrontation. Arguing sense with him doesn’t matter, he’s not here for anything other than stirring shit up.
Anyone remember when he suddenly stoppedpostingfor a long time? Just blissfully and abruptly disappeared for, oh, I don’t know, the length of an average misdemeanor sentence or something. Don’t know what we did to deserve it … maybe everyone gave to charity that day or something.

Rand Rover used to annoy me, but then I got over it. I disagree with his political beliefs, but NO ONE makes me laugh on here as consistently as he does. Dude is funny. Also, he totally pops a hole in the whole “Super Special Dopers” thing. I love him. I just wish he’d post more; he must be too busy swimming in his piles of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck to come by the pit and skewer dumbasses lately. Or maybe its the kid, I dunno.

RR is on my ignore list (using the Vbulletin plugin for Firefox), and until that stupid thread, DNFTT was working perfectly well–I forget the guy exists. Which is really the point–to keep the troll from wreaking havoc.
And he is very much a troll–as has been established forever, one need not not believe what they are saying to be a troll. He has admitted to primarily posting to “tweak” posters, and that is enough to label him a troll.
Finally, even if your goal is to remove trolls, DNFTT can work–if it’s actually policy. Otherwise, you will always get the counter-trolls, who often border on trolling themselves. Oh for an ignore feature that could figure out that a thread has become about responding to a troll, and removing it. Instead, I’m stuck with manually blocking threads.

There are people on this board who believe as he does–but they don’t come in to try and piss people off about it. They make actual arguments, occasionally complain about the SDMB echo chamber, but otherwise are decent people.
Yes, he has immoral political beliefs. But he’s also a really shitty guy. The fact that you find him funny makes me second guess you, as, in general, finding trolling funny is why trolls troll.

Look there are a couple people on here that totally piss me off too. Like, irrationally; especially considering we’ve never met, never will, and they are just words on a screen. I, however, find his dickishness amusing. I come here to be entertained, and he entertains me. He’s hardly the only dick on the board, and in my opinion, he’s far from the worst one. The fact that he inspires such rage in some people is part of the humor for me, I admit that. If that makes you question my moral fiber or something, fine. I can live with that.
