I pit the legal community of Steubenville Ohio

There have already been tweets threatening/mocking the victim since the verdict came out. Most of the accounts responsible have either since protected their tweets or have mysteriously vanished. :dubious:

Here’s one who’s still swinging the stupid:

https://twitter.com/GorJESSSSS_

She makes me ashamed of my gender.

Look at it this way. She’s destroying her reputation by showing everyone how much of an idiot she is. We can only hope more have the “courage” to speak up and I only encourage them to do so.

Zero sympathy for these scumbags. I find particularly loathsome that one of them said, after the verdict, that no pictures should have been taken. No, asshole, you shouldn’t have raped the victim. Fuckers.

From the link:

This guy couldn’t find a clue if it wriggled across his face! In his mind, the problem is that there were pictures? I bet you they still believe that because she wasn’t able to say NO, that was consent.

CNN grieves that guilty verdict ruined ‘promising’ lives of Steubenville rapists

There aren’t enough

Anyone other than me tempted to send them an empty jar of lube?

Unbelievable.

What happens next? I guess they will be registered sex offenders, but aren’t criminal charges supposed to go away once a minor becomes an adult?

Again from the link:

(Double checks that this is the Pit)…

Good Fucking Lord! These are NEWS COMMENTATORS… These are adults… What about the victim? You know… the girl that was RAPED??? Do you think she’s not going to live with it the rest of her life?

Hoorah for Ohio Law and I hope they are registered sex offenders FOREVER! I say their parents should get bumper stickers that say “I raised a sex offender”

Maybe then some of these privileged brats will wake up and act like humans instead of the jackasses that their parents have let them become.

No, because prison rape is no funnier than what those boys did to that girl.

Thank you for pointing that out.

They won’t be raped, they’ll be glorified. This isn’t The Shawshank Redemption. This isn’t Scared Straight. This is 2013. In a town where the cops deleted evidence, in a town where the cops knew and one of their homes was used to host a party that was a pivotal event in the crime timeline.

Hate to think that the Registered Sex Offender status is deleted at 18- or 21. They’ll be angry sex offenders who think it’s great to abuse a woman for their entire lives. That attitude and behavior won’t magically end at the end of their age of minority.

So a rape victim is supposed to keep quiet so as not to destroy her rapists lives?

I hope that CNN commentator follows that rule if any member of her family gets raped.

+1

Imagine? CNN reporter is on the road. Gets drunk in hotel bar. Wakes up in someone elses room. No panties on. Sore vagina.

And when she reports it to her HR dept, she is told not to ruin the lives,of the two male reporters who raped her and shared the video of it on the Net.

Apparently, she would be a-ok with that.

Really…

Why empty? Are habañero peppers out of season?

I’d just like to mention that Fox News, which has declined to broadcast the names of the now-convicted rapists, did apparently feel it was appropriate to air a statement which identified the victim by name.

Stay classy, Fox.

Twitchy has a page of similar tweets, including some from accounts now vanished.

No, they have not ruined her life. What happened was to her was horrible and she will be forever changed but her life is not ruined.

This is true. I am a victim of rape, and my life is far from ruined.

To be fair, serving a year in juvie hardly qualifies as “life ruining” either, though.

In Ohio, a juvenile rape conviction can never be expunged, so it’ll be on their records forever.
