I pit the Louisiana judge who is, apparently, stuck in a time warp

I so love you!

Miscegenation is my favoritest word in the English language. What was a bad word in the US is a matter of much national pride in my country.

In all seriousness, I have seen some articles that mention studies that suggest that children from very different racial background tend to be healthier than their non-mixed peers. Bad genes rarely occur in very different groups, so there is less chance of passing the “bad juju”*.
*This is a scientific term.

The Yupik and Inupiat might object.

Bigot logic seems to go “Racist would be thinking Puerto Ricans should be kept in cages because they’re Puerto Ricans; thinking they should be kept in cages because they’re all criminals is just fact”.

I like the tone of this thread. Instead of responding with outrage, we respond with absolute mockery of the utter stupidness of the dumbass involved. Maybe if enough of these idiots are openly laughed at, something might eventually sink in.

One example I’ve heard of that; whites are much less likely to have the recessive gene for sickle cell anemia than whites; blacks are much less likely to have the recessive gene for cystic fibrosis. Therefore if a black and white person have a child together, the odds are better that the child will have neither disease than if they married within the race.

It’s the opposite of inbreeding. “Hybrid vigor” as it’s sometimes called.

What’s interesting to me is that there have been comments here about how there isn’t much this guy can do to stem the tide, but not much about the poor under-served black woman.

I like “less chance of passing the bad juju” myself.

Well no because he’s talking about products of mixed-race human couples and Obama is an alien.

Hence the saying, “once you go black, you never get cystic fibrosis.”

Is she cute?

Apparently not as cute as the black man.

Soul food makes you constipated . . .

Kang or Kodos?

This dude is so screwed.

Couldn’t happen to a better person.

Not all of them. The Wikipedia article has some very good cites regarding the name, where it actually comes from (it most likely comes from the Montagnais word meaning “snowshoe-netter”), and whether it ought to be considered offensive. It’s a much deeper issue than most facile treatments give it credit for being.

Loving v. Virginia is my favorite case name ever.

It is fantastic, and it’s what the whole case was about: loving who you choose. Someday that will be extended to all people, and that will be an awesome day. I hope and pray it’s sooner rather than later.

Nasty-minded and stupid, that is.

In fact, the meme that the positive societal elements that existed in this country pre-1968 are inextricably interwined with and supportive of racism is probably the most stupid one that goes on around this place, so I can’t say I’m surprised to see you parroting it.

For about the 848th time, the counter-culture revolution that took place in the late sixties had nothing to do with race, nor does contemptuousness for the results of it. If you wanna talk about things that truly made the civil rights movement take off, you’re going to have to go back to the polite, well-dressed and dignified black people of the fifties and early-to-mid sixties. You know, the ones who behaved in the same mature, adult ways that you call racist when it comes to white people.

And thanks, Miller. I know we often disagree but I’ve always regarded you as an honest poster. Your response to Zsofia is another example of your desire to keep things honest and and accurate and I appreciate your words in my defense.

Nuke 'em from orbit. Its the only way to be sure.

Oh, I don’t know. I think he’s taken quite a few steps to the right.
