He was still there at midnight. It caused quite a bit of trouble for a few of the residents.
And I commend the local police, who were very obliging when I called them. They came within about 20 minutes, and issued a parking ticket. So if the bloke who owned the car was off having a good time at one of the local pubs, it turned into an expensive night for him.
Man, that does suck. Couldn’t you have had the douchebag towed? That would’ve been fun! Waiting untill he got back, watching pace up and down the street, searching wildly for his car…
did you get the vehicle details? the :wally belongs on here>> http://www.baddriving.com in the crap parking section… btw, in the uk if they park across a lowered kerb the police can automatically tow them
Apparently neither the police nor the local council can tow the car away unless it’s obstructing some sort of freeway. I could have paid for a tow truck myself, but it wasn’t that important and my annoyance was assuaged when the police issued the rather hefty parking ticket.
oo, that makes me mad. I used to live in atrendy neighborhood with a lot of popular restaurants, while I was working c-shift. The grim satisfaction of seeing their cars towed did not make up for the fact that I had to wait for 45 minutes for the tow truck to arrive. You can tell that to your boss once, without a fight.
I know at least one person, who, upon receiving an emergency call and requiring immediate access to her vehicle which was blocked by a parked vehicle (manual transmission), broke the drivers side window, rolled the car aside, and proceeded on her way. She is a doctor who was responding to a page, and didn’t leave a note. Perfectly reasonable.
This is quite the problem in my neighborhood. So much so that I have parking enforcement’s number saved in my cell.
In the 15 months that I have lived in the house we have had 8 vehicles towed. I used to feel bad but seriously… It’s abundantly clear that they are parking in front of a driveway. If they are so self-absorbed that they can’t see how they might be effecting others… then a 300$ impound ticket should wake them up.
Or… I have a theory that our block is a drop off for a boosted cars. The thieves steal the cars and are told to park them anywhere on the block while another crew comes and picks them up and takes them to a chop shop. Just my wacky theory.
We used to have a problem with the next-door neighbors blocking us in, until my mother banged on their door at 3:30 a.m., pointed at the truck, and said she had to leave for work. They’ve pretty much stopped now.
