I Pit the North Carolina General Assembly

Why? If I move to a town for three months, I’m entitled to vote there. It’s where I live. The idea that I’d not be, that I must be tied to the earth like a farmer, is insulting and ignorant of the transient nature of many modern Americans.

This is idiotic. When I drive through South Carolina, I pay South Carolina gas taxes, but that doesn’t mean I’m entitled to in-state tuition. As Brainglutton said, the two ideas have nothing to do with one another.

The logic behind in-state tuition and out of state tuition is that parents are the ones paying the tuition and the State taxes.

As to whether such logic is still sound nowadays is a different matter. Personally, I feel if a student can show that he is paying for his own tuition and holding down a job in-state (gotta pay the taxes that support the University system) then he should qualify for in-state tuition.

Old Male Senator: Yeah, that Sharia law stuff is foreign, old, and really cruel to women. We don’t want stuff like that in our country. Before we vote I’m just gonna add on to this bill some stuff about restricting what our women can do with their bodies and their reproductive parts . . .

:smack:

I know this is a different reason to pit the NC legislature, but since the thread was here…

Those underhanded pig fuckers snuck a vote in that would require abortion clinics to be held to the same safety standards as a surgical facility, and would essentially force every clinic in the state (except one in Asheville) to close. Storyhere.

They aren’t concerned at all about safety or health, they are trying to legislate their religious convictions. I hope the House takes a good long look at this before voting on it.

I have the feeling the abortion bill fiasco may be the straw. Governor Pat is reportedly “concerned” about it.

In other news, my parents were considering taking Spike down to the Moral Monday demonstration last night, but decided not to bring the boy out in the rain. (He’s made of spun sugar.) My sister, who was there, says it was a huge crowd.

Did you really think they couldn’t sink any lower?

Can someone provide the GOP’s “rationale” for the nipple felony law?

They hate women.

…And another big FUCK YOU to Pat McCrory for this little stunt. Seriously, dude?

What a fucking douche. “There, there, dear. Don’t get so worked up. Calm down and have a cookie.” She should have just flipped the whole thing into his face.

:mad: I don’t believe this story for a minute! She slipped the plate of chocolate chip cookies back under the gate of the governor’s mansion?! A woman turning down chocolate?!

::d&r::

::d&r::

Which would have been what he was going for. McCrory is an ass.

If the protesters were black, would he have sent out a watermelon?

No. Fried chicken.

Which brings to mind this Dave Chappelle bit about fried chicken.

I’ve got to laugh or I’ll start crying.

Shit, I’ll go! I’ll eat his fried chicken and his watermelon, and I’ll still call him an asshole. And if he wants to pander to the hippie vote, and offer me a hash brownie, I’ll eat one if he will, and if I get to watch what happens.

Saw a stoned Republican once, and laugh! I thought I’d surely die!

Eh, McCrory strikes me as the type of ass who would put either raisins or carob chips in a batch of cookies.

Oh, this PDF showed up on Facebook this afternoon…it’s a suspension of operation notice from NC’s DHHS for the only abortion-providing clinic that was expected to survive the new regulations. :mad: Hell, what McCrory has done is worse than what Perry did…at least Perry let his sister’s clinic stay in business.

Future SatNightLive bit: Quien es al mas batshit? La Carolina del Norte o la Carolina del Sur?

State Republicans Condemn Rogue Twitter Account

Key quote:

They’re backpedaling so hard, time is about to reverse so Lois Lane will survive the avalanche.

I’m kind of techtarded on this point – is there any way, without a subpoena or even with one, to find out whose Twitter account this is? Who is wncgop?

So the closing of the Greensboro indigent medical clinic was announced this week. A direct result of the NC General Assembly’s refusal to expand Medicaid. It’s gonna be a long fucking winter in the ER.
