Welfare capitalism isn’t socialism, though in America anything that concerns the group instead of atomizing society into helpless individuals is called socialism. There was an underrated humorous moment in the Dem primaries when a leader from one of the Nordic countries told Bernie to stop calling them socialists because they were dirty capitalist pigs.
“Amazing comments from the Pope- considering Vatican City is 100% surrounded by massive walls.” - Dan Scavino, Trump’s social media director and senior adviser.
The walls of Rome were not built to protect it from “Muslim invaders”. They were built to protect Rome from Italians. And the French. They’ve long been torn down and turned into “more Rome”, btw.
Furthermore, even **if **your historical anecdote had been anywhere close to the mark, I find it both amusing and highly representative that you’d wish world leaders to keep with medieval geopolitics and policies .
Nice that you get your talking points directly from Dan Scavino.
You should readthis, and you will see that your claim there is completely unfounded, counterfactual, and should embarrass you for having made it. That is to say, if you actually have any sort of shame or conscience, and you aren’t just a pathetic whiny troll. (I am usually optimistic, but in this case, I am betting on whiny pathetic troll, lets see if he proves me wrong.)
Eta: I would have been first to post, but I had some clients to attend to before I could proofread, but still what is that, triple ninja’d?
Of course, with such a stupid and easily dismissed claim (I simply highlighted his words and used them to google search) it makes sense that there would b this much response.
So?
Since there are so many open stretches and the Vatican doesn’t try to keep anyone out, why do you think they should go to the trouble and expense to get rid of the walls?
And Bourbon sacked Rome in the early 16th century.
His boys were German & Swiss Lutherans and Spanish Catholics and mercs of all nations.
It was the Catholics who most hated the Church.
Well, I’d have about a thousand bullet points against opinions the current pope is holding, but I’d enjoy it discussing with him, because he’s a decent and intelligent person. You OP are just a very boring troll.
So ? Just because the Aurelian walls happened to be of use against Muslims raiders doesn’t mean they were built because of them, you dolt. FFS, when they were built there *were *no Muslims.
And no, there are no more walls surrounding Rome to speak of - at best there remains sectional vestiges here and there, like in most fortified cities that weren’t specifically preserved as such like Carcassonne - which does still have its entire wall standing even though the city has expanded far beyond it since. Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, had their walls deliberately torn down by conquerors as a political statement - Louis XIV for example did that a lot in southern France.
Point is : the historical walls of Rome do not prevent moving in or out of the city at all today.
I would not find any time in my schedule to meet with the Pope, for the same reasons that I would not find any time in my schedule to bother to meet with Obama, Angela Merkel, Mark Zuckerberg, The Koch bros, George Soros, John McCain, Hillary Clinton and a whole number of other people because the one thing that they all share in common, is that they’re all disgusting globalists.
