I pit the secessonist movement, GOP excuses, AND the move-to-Canada movement

(I read the guidelines, but this is my first Pit posting; please gently correct me if I’m out of line).

I pit these secessonist assholes who want their state to leave the Union, most of whom aren’t even honest enough to admit they’re doing it because they’re a bunch of racist fucks! When Republicans lose a general election, they all think their state can do it alone. In my opinion, they’re on the wrong side of history, and this infinitesimal percentage of people start ranting and raving and throwing a giant pity party, seeming to forget that we had to put up with 8 years of Dubya and his bullshit.

I pit people who think of themselves as citizens of their state first, and as Americans a distant, distant second, who disagree so strongly with what people have legitimately voted for that they think they can go it alone. Maybe, just maybe, the majority in this instance knows what they’re talking about? And maybe, if the GOP spent less time obstructing everything just because the Democrats want to try it, we’d actually be able to get something accomplished!

I pit Mitt Romney for being a sore loser and making specious accusations of Barack Obama making “gifts” to donors to help him win the election. That’s said with such a lack of self-awareness I don’t even know where to begin. Surely it has nothing to do with the fact that Romney talked a big game but didn’t actually present any ideas on how to accomplish his goals? Romney’s trying to channel the Andrew Jackson/John Quincy Adams “corrupt bargain” days, and it’s just not working for him.

And while I’m at it: Just to be fair, I also pit my fellow Democrats who, whenever a Republican wins the general election, start making noises about moving to Canada. As if anybody actually follows through on that!

Damn right. Canada is too fucking cold.

We moved to France. :smiley:

But yeah, I can support this pitting. What is even dumber, though, is the republicans who, in response to Obamacare, said they were going to move to Canada. :smiley: Now that was stupid.

The cold helps keep away the Americans. :smiley:

Lookin’ at you, Alec Baldwin.

Canada’s very nice. I like it here lots and I’m not coming back.
Y’all down there below the 48th are fun to point at and laugh though.

And South America stole our name!

49th. Educated in the States, were you?

You say this as if it’s a bad thing. Godspeed, I say. :cool:

It all depends on your perspective.

I never could figure out the metric system…

28 and a third grams to an ounce, 454 grams to a pound, a million micrograms to a gram. We hippys were real big on metrics.

Yeah, moving to Canada will help you with that socialism and socialized healthcare that you find so offensive. :slight_smile:

Americans and Africanized Killer Bees. :smiley:

You people didn’t need to know his ideas. He’s Mitt Romney, for Pete’s sake! But the real reason the accusations of bribery and cronyism against Obama are so ridiculous is the fact that the last Republican president and vice president both came to the White House from the oil industry (directly from the oil industry, in Cheney’s case) and then let oil companies help draw up their energy policy. But health care coverage and old federal programs that help people get phones, yes, that’s corrupt.

On Election Day my girlfriend spoke to a coworker who implied he’d moved, to get away from Obama, to Brazil. Makes more sense than Canada weather-wise, but I can’t help thinking this is what happens when you know jack shit about other countries.

Meh; at least it makes logical sense for a Democrat who wants a more “socialist” (by American standards) society to move to one that already is closer to what they want. As said, it’s the rightwingers who rant about moving to countries that are even more what they say they are running away from who are truly silly.

Wait… WHAT!!! So an eigth is actually MORE than 3.5 grams? I’ve been getting shorted for 30 years.

Well, that energy bill also funded Solyndra so…

I had a friend who said he would retire and move to Belize (he has a place down there) if Obama lost. Which is strange because he was almost SURE that Obama couldn’t win in 2008.

To be more precise:

oz = 28.349523 gram

lb = 453.59237 gram

gram = 1000000 µg

We didn’t have scales that good. Shit, you were lucky if your [del]dealer[/del] friend weighed it instead of tossing the bag a couple times and say, “That feels like an ounce.”

As a person who lives in Tx and is a liberal. (Well, really a moderate, but in Tx that makes me a pinko commie of some kind.) And I say this, loving TX, I really do.

Every election that the whackadoos don’t like this is brought up. (I identify as American first, personally. So it makes me crazy angry when this comes up. I’m also a Texan, but a naturalized one. Meaning I’m from Kentucky.)

So I’m watching the local news and they’re talking about the petitions…blah blah and my fella walks in from his office where he’s been steadily working.

Me: Guess what? A lot of whackadoos want TX to secede.

Him: <in a whiny voice> Oh damn! We have to move?

Me: No honey don’t worry! I have a plan! We’ll move…to Colorado :slight_smile:

Him: <smiling> Now I’m not so worried.
They do this everytime. We can secede! We were a republic first! blah blah You know, "Tell it to my ass b/c my face AND my hand aren’t listening. " They don’t get the logistics.

Just to be clear. There is no “movement”. Not even a wet fart of a movement. There’s always a few wing nuts. So far, I dont think they even have 1/1000 signatures anywhere.

And the only time I thought there was legit excuse was the Shrub/Gore election, which Gore should have won. The rest of the time- the people spoke, get over it. (Even when Shrub won his second term vs Kerry, I had no “excuses”. Kerry lost, Shrub won- the people spoke. )

Nitpick: he was accusing Obama of making “gifts” to voters, rather than donors. The only gift us donors got was a butt-gigantic avalanche of e-mails asking for more money.
