I pit the woman who threw her baby off a 4 story parking structure!!

That’s just an excuse: I can’t do anything but make a joke about it, so I’m going to shit up a thread. You’re just dogpiling for the sake of doing so, and thus rendering a thread that somebody might have a legitimate interest (or outrage) in useless. It happens all the time.

Dog-piling whom? I haven’t said anything about the OP. I think this was a perfectly legitimate pitting.

What possible reason could a person have to post in here that’s being compromised by our jokes? Anyone could come in and post “that’s horrible!” or “that poor baby!” or “what a sick person!” just like they would have, in droves, had we not started joking. And then the thread would have met your expectations? Grand.

And fast…

Me, I’m just glad this woman tossed her baby on a day that my good friend was not there with her son!

I dunno. The universe of possible conversation is large. But I do know that threads can be derailed, or that potential contributors can be discouraged by threadshitting.

If you’re reading this, OP, don’t be discouraged! Your thread has been one of the best in a while!

Are you sure? Eh, this is why I lurk. I’ll go back in my hole now.

This is entirely reasonable and I suggest that if you had led off with this instead of the weird sarcastic over-the-top baby gore that you chose to go with instead, you would have perhaps had a better response in the thread. Not that I am an expert on Pit threads or anything.

Just to make sure I am understanding you correctly - you think Holocaust jokes are fine?

I thought so.

And yeah, I do.

You misunderstand me. I got precisely the response I expected. I did exactly what I wanted to do with this thread and my approach to it.

Winning!

I think we just got trolled.

I feel dirty.

Okay then. I honestly wonder how many others here also do.

Looking sanctimonious and derailing the thread? Interesting approach you have there. Maybe your earlier deluge of snide comments weren’t meant to be taken as value judgments, but they sure seemed that way.

Anyway, I too am boggled with why you didn’t just start off with your most recent couple of posts. While I disagree with them, the points you raise within are totally reasonable. With that said:

Melon has already raised this point before, and you say it’s just an excuse, but I feel that you saying it’s an excuse is just an excuse in itself. What I’m trying to say is just how do our jokes, however one feels about them, stop anyone from expressing outrage or having a discussion about this morbid topic? Seriously, how? Jokes and discussions have co-existed here since this board’s birth. In this very thread there have already been a few posts where people got their outrage fires raging, and some people had a brief discussion about post-mortem depression. Are we supposed to feel that just because this thread doesn’t meet your standard of discourse, that suddenly means that everyone is a thread-shitter? Well, excuse us.

And furthermore, just what exactly is there to have a ‘valid discussion’ about in this thread? Killing babies is bad. OK. Bitch sure is crazy. OK. Maybe she has post-mortem depression. OK, sure. Or maybe somebody could pipe in with ‘I too had my baby thrown off a building and I am very angry!’? For the love of God I hope not. You say that if nobody wants to talk about the above few issues, then nobody should post at all. Well, that would make a pretty short and lame thread, I feel.

Oh, and nobody is dog-piling the OP. Nobody is being mean to the OP, and unless the OP has skin thinner than whats-his-face in another ongoing thread at the moment and somehow takes all the apathetic/dark humor personally, well then I highly doubt he feels he is being dog-piled. Honestly I can see where you’re coming from with the thread-shitting, but why you feel this is a dogpile is beyond me.

Finally, as you alluded to before, I think your (really adorable) baby boy is clouding your perception of this whole issue. Which is totally fine. Babies are supposed to do that. But, maybe consider your stance is not as rock-solid as you might think.

A bunch. Every now and then a dirty joke thread rolls through town and it’s packed full of Holocaust jokes, racist jokes, dead baby jokes… and from what I’ve seen they’ve always been very popular. In fact, I think a new one should be made posthaste!

I have never personally heard a Holocaust joke that I thought was funny, but I can’t rule out the possibility that I might. I mean, you can make humor out of any topic. I’ve heard 9/11 jokes that made me laugh, and in general I think 9/11 was about as serious as a heart attack. It all depends on the approach.

Can it be amniotic sac cloth and ashes?

Do you know what’s worse than this thread?

The Holocaust

hahahaha

I hope that cured you of your Holocaust-induced-laughter deficiency, MsWhatsit!
