I hesitate to say anything to either of you, because I don’t know you, but I do know what it’s like to bear other people’s burdens and try to pretend you don’t have any yourself. I don’t know how possible it is, but if you can find anyone to unload on, even if it’s a support group or a hotline (or, who knows, an online community if that helps), try to allow yourself to do that instead of just being strong.
Good luck to both of you. I’d give you cyber-hugs, but I don’t know if you mind strangers getting touchy-feely with you.

There’s a simple philosophy that underlies my thinking about my current situation at all times, whether good or bad:
This too shall pass.
In good times, it tells me to consciously appreciate what I have, because there will come a time when I don’t have it. This is not a pessimistic thing; it’s what makes me glad I started giving our dear late springer Emily extra hugs and affection as she started getting older. Now that she’s gone, I’m grateful that I treasured her while she was here.
In bad times, it tells me to ride it out. Nothing lasts forever. It’s a tired old counselor’s cliche, but by God it’s true. During the awful times of my life, I couldn’t even conceive of being as happy in my life as I am now. But I rode it out and it passed.
And so it will for you. Take care and wait for the sunrise.
And a time to every purpose unto heaven.

I was very worried about you, Euty. I didn’t want to post here until I knew for sure what it was you were actually quitting, but I’ve been inquiring behind the scenes to ensure you were ok. I’m so glad to know that you are!
Take care of yourself and don’t forget that you DO have friends. Plenty of them. If this thread alone wasn’t proof of that, I don’t know what it would take to convince you.

Euty - I’ve been there. It’s not a nice place. I haven’t made any close friends since returning home from the military and was feeling very bad due to some personal problems I felt I couldn’t talk to anyone about. I vented on the boards and found I had more friends than I thought. Feel free to email me anytime. If you want, I’ll give you my phone number and you can call.
Don’t try to keep it all in anymore. When you do that it just tries to eat its way out.
