I don’t know Alice the Goon, but I think I have seen her nick on a few of the threads I was browsing.
Interesting that I should stumble upon this thread.
It has been over two years since I have posted. And probably almost that long since I even logged in (except to renew my paid subscription).
And I remembered my password too.

I was inspired by your memory and gave my long-forgotten password a shot, too - hey, it worked! I haven’t logged in since 2004 and will have to check my post to see when I registered. I’ve been a very happy lurker for a very long time, but it’s nice to be able to post.

I stopped posting around the time the SDMB went to requiring a paid membership to do so. I lurked for a bit and continued to chat on the #straightdope undernet channel until sometime in 2005 or so.
A week or so ago I remembered that I still had a Livejournal page (which I’ve also neglected for years and years) and sent a few messages out to contacts to ask if the SDMB was still going. I found out it no longer required a paid subscription, and since I’m a cheapskate and used to seeing banner ads anyway, decided to see if I could reactivate myself.
Why didn’t you try to reset your password?
I actually did reset it after I logged in, I just happened to remember what password I last ued.

Oregon, but I did go to a Dopefest in Washington while there. I’ve been back in Tennessee for six years now. I miss the West Coast.
I’m nowhere near as active as I used to be. I now post once every three or four days, instead as twice as often every hour. I’m still around a fair bit, though, and still see people like Silver and **Number **around. Funny how most of us (the ones I remember, anyway) still seem to be here.
