It’s still $2.69 up here. If this were the pit, this would be a less-than-polite response.
Am I imagining it or do gas prices fluctuate way more than any other prices?
It just seems they swing wildly in comparison to the other things we buy regularly.
Or am I just fooling myself because the price of gas is something we pay such close attention to?
Look at my location, suckers
I paid 1.60 this morning including a .10 off discount for getting a car wash. Filled up for $17 and change, first all the way filled up till the pump shuts off for me in a long time.
In my neighborhood, it’s $1.479. All the $1.33s are in South County.
Not that I’m complaining, mind.
Pfff… I saw it at 71.9 this morning!
Hey, it’s right about 1.17 over here!
…Euro, that is.
…per litre.
I saw it for $1.49 a couple of days ago and about died.
I wonder what is causing the plummeting prices? I’ve never seen anything else suddenly start selling for damn near a third of what it was selling for just a couple of months ago, you know?
It’s funny, as the prices get lower I get more an more obsessed with finding THE LOWEST price I can before I fill up. I stopped at a place last weekend that was $1.89, and then was annoyed when a bit down the road I saw a place where it was $1.84. Grrr…
This morning I noticed the gas station right on my corner was $1.75. Woo hoo! Makes me want to go on a road trip.
www.HoustonGasPrices.com is one of my favorite sites, and it has links to other cities as well.
The lowest price currently being displayed is $1.19 per gallon with the gas company card, which means the rest of us pay $1.29 a gallon. Most of the other lowest prices are running in the mid 1.40’s.
[pet peeve]No. It’s $1.789 or 178.9¢; you cannot have two decimal points in one number.[/pp]
It was $1.959 on the way to work this morning. I’m betting it’s going to be $1.899 on the way home, due to the “gas wars” at the three stations on the way down the hill. It’s usually on Thursday, but I have a feeling they’ll be doing it this evening. When gas was $4.099, they dropped it by twenty cents. Now it’s closer to five.
Funny, because I do that as the prices get higher.
$1.59 here in Oklahoma (1.79 for premium). I think it’s been under $2.00 for a couple months.
The cheapest I’ve seen gas in the Baltimore area is $1.679. Near me the cheapest is $1.719
Well, a normal person would, wouldn’t they?
It’s $1.79 in Orlando(ish).
I can’t fill up for $20 again until gas gets down to $1.50. It’s about $1.70 around here.
As long as it stays under $2.00 I’ll be quite happy.
I paid $1.49 this weekend.
The store at which I work, in SF, CA, is now officially $1.999, as of last night. Amazing. I never thought we’d see sub-$3.oo gas again.
Joe
Am I alone in thinking this is not a good thing? People were starting to improve their driving habits–driving slower, riding bikes or walking more, trading in their gas-guzzler SUVs for something that makes sense, taking public transportation, and so on.
Now we’re right back where we started, and all those good habits are going poof. Like the summer of '08 never happened.
This isn’t a good thing for the long term. All it will do is allow way too many people to bury their heads in the sand and think that things vis a vis petroleum (and economic dependence thereon) are just fine. Things are not fine. Prices will go through the roof again, sooner or later. Wait and see.
Personally, I like paying less for gas. This summer killed me. But, in principle, I think higher gas prices were good for starting to establish better habits, both safety and environmental. I honestly wish that prices had not dropped so far.
Sorry for the wet blanket, guys.
Philosophically, Knorf, I completely agree with you. Practically, I completely disagree. I like paying less for gas, too. Driving 100 miles per day for work convinces you of that real quick. And, to head things off at the pass, I’d have to drive the same amount if I lived in the town I worked, because I’d have to drive down for rugby practice.
