I just came home from a Tuck and Patti concert and thought the usual: Why are these two not more famous? They are, IMHO, the most talented duet playing today. One of the reasons it is so much fun to see them in person is that even after all these years, I can’t believe that is just one person playing the guitar.
Please, fellow dopers, restore my faith in people’s taste in music. At least a few of you have to be Tuck and Patti fans…
My finacée has several Tuck and Patti CDs and I had never heard of them before she introduced them to me. Now I’m a big fan. I wonder if they’ll ever play in Osaka…
I saw Tuck Andress messing around at a music store in Tulsa, years before he was famous. A few years later, I recognized the guy who almost convinced me to quit playing guitar.
But eighteen fingers on each hand has to help. That’s how many he’s got, isn’t it?
Teach: Why, yes, they are playing in Osaka. December 15, I think. See link below. (I must say that I am so glad you asked. What a coincidence that they actually are playing there. Hmmmm…great Christmas present for the fiancee.
Jack Batty: They play jazz–sort of. I love their covers of everything from the Beatles to Cyndi Lauper to Stevie Wonder, but she writes a lot of their music. For a sample, got to
http://www.tuckandpatti.com/ stofsky: At least 18 on each hand. That third arm must come in handy, too. Please tell me that he almost convinced you to quit by comparison, not because he was a jerk or something. He comes across on stage as being a wonderful guy. Do you know he offers lessons? see link above. The guitar players in the audience went nuts during his solo numbers. I bought his christmas instrumental CD, which I am going to hold off listening to for a few more weeks–if I can resist.
C’mon, I know there are more Tuck and Patti fans out there…
Oh, absolutely. I never even talked to him. I bookmarked the link and I’m going to print “Take my Breath Away” later. Boy do I have my work cut out for me now!
Feynn, my work here is done. I am SO happy that I lead someone to their music. If you can, see them in person. They play smallish clubs, so you can watch their facial expressions and at least try to watch Tuck play the guitar.
Stofsy: Take My Breath Away is my favorite of their songs. They did it and High-Heeled Shoe Blues as an encore at the concert. Heaven!
