No. It was in the contract, but they hadn’t written the check yet. It’s okay. It’s the first day, I hadn’t taken it off the market. If they found something that better suits their needs, I’m not upset. A little disappointed, sure. But it’s too much money fo someone to make the wrong decision.
Everything went very smoothly. Very minimal requests from the inspectors (although FHA had me repaint an exterior doorframe and stair railing because of some peeling paint, which I thought was pretty picky). Today was the closing. $208K in my pocket.
My insurance agency rep said I had to paint my alley facing garage door as a condition of getting coverage. I never saw anything in writing and, as a first time home buyer, I didn’t realize this is sort of unusual. The door was in pretty poor shape so I did scrape and paint it within a few weeks of moving and never heard about it again. It’s not like the door was in need of repair or anything beyond cosmetic paint: the same door is doing fine now 14+ years later.
