I stripped my fucking bed... (sympathy-needed thread)

Can’t you just lie on the bed without the sheets and stuff on it?

Last time I stripped the bed was when the cat peed in it…while I was sleeping…at 4 am…on a work day.

I fortunately had a spare set in the closet for emergency…OK, well this was one of them emergencies…unfortunately, I had to whip all the spiders and buggy things off it all, which then only spread em all over the damn place.

I’m still waiting for spider grownup’s making homes in electronics and other inaccessible places.

How are you feeling today Kam?

I hear ya kambuckta. It’s 4am and my back woke me up demanding more percocets. Damn shingles. I have to be up in 2 hours for work.

Good Morn’

Surprisingly well thanks Essured! Amazing as it may seem, it appears my normally recalcitrant disc has been rather well behaved and may have gone back into it’s cubby-hole. Was decidedly niggly this morning when I got to work, so took a couple of NSAID’s (Neurofen) and since then not as much as a grumble.

Seeing as my past experiences with this event have seen me crying with the pain for quite a few days post-prolapse, I either got really lucky this time, or the combined sympathetic-noises from the SDMB crew worked a miracle.

Or something.

Anyway, sheets tonight.

You have my sympathy. I am currently on semi-bed rest since Saturday with a herniated disc. I can stand or lie on my left side, but sitting lasts ten minutes at most. I have had to take this week off work. As I am self employed, this will just pile up till I’m OK again…

From tomorrow I am going to start moving more, but seeing as it hurts like hell I am not sure how optimistic that is…

Moving helps, believe me. You might start off looking like a museum-dinosaur, but once you get mobile the pain eases and the movement itself is distracting (of the pain).

I’m not suggesting you do a marathon or anything, but get shuffling around!!

Report back tomorrow

i have done a bit today. The problem is that I can’t sit at all. I just did 30 minutes of tidying by getting the kids to put everything on the counter for me to sort and hand to people to put away. Now I’m in pain. I want to walk outside but it’s -10ºC every day, and slick ice, so not conducive. The problem is that I teach toddlers, preschool, elementary kids. Lots of music and movement, sitting on the floor and leaning forward to grab cards and toys and, week, random toddlers jumping on me from behind. I just can’t risk it getting worse and putting me out of work for longer.

A friend suggested her chiropractor but that makes me feel even more nervous…

Best of luck to you both.

If it makes you feel any better, when the robots eventually relieve us of the tasks of raising the fleshlings, we will be able to command them remotely with voice instructions. For a while, at least…
