I tasted ******* last night.

I tasted cocaine last night. At least I think that’s what it was. Wasn’t sure it would fly in the subject line. People will probably come in here thinking the asterisks are masking a sexual reference.

I was at a friend’s house, smoking the kind bud. One guy complained of a toothache. Hostess said, “Rub some of this on it,” proffering a bent sheet of cardboard with a chunk of something white on it, and grains of the same substance in a streak across the surface. He put some on his tooth, and announced shortly afterwards that his gums were numb and he did feel better.

When no one was looking, I licked my finger and touched it very gently to the stray bits. I brought it up, looking at it carefully; there were just a few grains on there. I pressed my tongue to my fingertip. Very bitter. Didn’t get any sensation from it. Decided I didn’t even want to tease this tiger through the bars, much less pet him, lest I eventually let him out of his cage.

Later I was invited to share the remainder. I said no thank you; no one batted an eyelash. I’ve been in that situation before, and it’s never been a problem. No one is going to force such an expensive product on someone who doesn’t want it.

Anyway, just wanted to share that.

You’re very wise to turn it down. Ignoring even the physical implications of being hooked on the stuff… You’re right… that stuff is -expensive-.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh man, I thought it was going to be shit. The asterisks I mean.

Totoro, I made seven asterisks for accuracy, so as to avoid confusion with a certain five-letter word, or a six-letter one.

It was quite a feeling, though; looking at that stuff on my fingertip. I’ve seen it before last night, but this was the first time I petted the tiger, and even at that moment, I wasn’t sure I wanted to. It’s kind of the adult version of looking in a mirror and saying “Bloody Mary”. You’ve been told of something people sometimes do, something scary and dangerous, that you must not do, owing to the stories of people who have done it and met horrible fates…but your fear eventually inspires curiosity.

And you can use a mirror for both. Huh.
