I think it's bullshit that the Positive abortion news of the day thread was closed.

It’s called a rhetorical question. Czarcasm isn’t advocating for himself to be warned, he’s asking why this thread deserves a warning while his does not.

My thread wasn’t a poke at anyone or anything and I explicitly stated as much.

The thread you mentioned was explicitly, literally intended as a poke at the negative gun news threads. The OP stated this explicitly. The difference in moderation is confusing.

The thread was an entirely reasonable thread on an entirely reasonable subject. I was going to post a story in it, though I hadn’t gotten around to it yet.

The phrasing of the title references other threads, yes. There are additional threads that do the same thing that have not even gotten a moderator’s note or a title change for it, let alone been closed with a trolling warning.

Colibri and engineer_comp_geek, do you seriously think that there’s no such thing as positive life stories involving an abortion?

Your clever 11-dimensional chess isn’t convincing anyone.

To me it sure looks like an honestly-intentioned thread, with a title that was intended as a poke at the “Positive Gun News Thread.”

Then what about the kayak/yak threads?

I read the OP and wondered if it was only a parody, but then I read the OP’s second post and other stories in the thread, and I was able to adjust my opinion and take it seriously. When presented with new information, it’s useful to reconsider your opinions.

And the off-topic posts were all made by a single poster, or were responses to him. Maybe those hijacks could have been dealt with, instead of a “head shot”.

I think the mods are rightly frustrated by some of the BS in the ATMB thread on gun control, and I can understand overreacting to this one. But that’s what the closure and warning were - an overreaction.

A year or so ago, a friend of mine posted a series of family pictures, with blanks spaces in them where certain family members should’ve been. The missing family members were those born to a mother who had had an abortion at a young age. Had abortion not been an option for her, my friend suggested, her life would’ve taken a drastically different turn, and she wouldn’t have been able to start a family later, on her own terms. He, and his own children, would never have existed.

The thread topic is 100% legit, and this warning and closure are not at all in line with board culture or rules. Please reconsider them.

Me too. Entirely reasonable.

So it’s not possible to discuss how having an abortion may have positively impacted one’s life, but it’s perfectly fine, a few threads over, to tell a female poster to go masturbate herself and another poster. Coincidentally, also in an abortion related thread, btw.

Cool.

I’d say that even handed moderation would require that they request the OP to rename the thread- not positive/negative by itself, but something more specific- “Positive Anti-Abortion News” or “Positive Pro Choice News” for example.

Otherwise, there’s a lot of ambiguity, and tacit endorsement of a particular viewpoint as positive through the mere existence of the ambiguously named thread.

Linky?

FTR, **Bone **started the “Positive Gun News of the Day” thread *itself *as a retort to the Pit’s “Stupid Gun News of the Day” thread.

Note the OP telling the poster to go rub one out and pick up some astroglide. Oh, and the handy-j.

…and the dig at the Other Board…

Two and a half years later. Not exactly a hair-trigger response (sorry).

I am now reconsidering my intent to start a “Positive Black Licorice News” thread. I wouldn’t want to get a warning for trolling all the black licorice haters.

Ugh don’t get me started on how disgusting black licorice is. There are some topics too much of a hot button for this board.

You are truly among the culinary unenlightened. Australian Black Licorice is nothing less than divine! :o

BLM. Black Licorice Matters.
