I think maybe, possibly, one in a million according to the doctor.. I may be pregnant

I’m trying not to get too excited because according to my doctor, the only way I’ll have more babies is with invitro-fertilization so I’m thinking that I’m either pregnant or there’s something really wrong with me. (I had surgery last summer and my fallopian tubes were removed, that’s why it’s almost impossible for me to get pregnant)

I’m 4 days late. I’ve been one or two days late before but never this late… except the two times I was pregnant! My SO knows my cycle (almost better than me) and he knew I should have started Thursday. He asked me Saturday when I was going to start… I told him I didn’t know. We’ve been trying not to get our hopes up but if I am pregnant it’s gonna be about as close to a miracle as we can get!

I don’t want to tell any of my friends or family until I’m absolutely sure… even if it’s confirmed by a doctor I’ll wait until I’m 3 months along before I tell them but I just had to tell someone so I’m telling my Straight Dope Family! Keep your fingers crossed and send good thoughts my way if you would please!!

I’m going to wait and see what happens I guess. If I don’t start by Friday then I’m going to take a home test. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Good luck, God Bless.

Oh, Rachelle, my hopes and prayers and positive thoughts and everything else I can think of are coming your way. Wouldn’t it be wonderful!!!

I’m even crossing my fingers and toes. And this is no mean feat, as I have pretty short toes.

Scotti

Firstly, best wishes.

Secondly, why couldn’t you take a home test right now?

Thirdly, hi Opal.

Wow, that would be too cool!

Good luck!

Best wishes!! wondering how many parts of my body I can cross for luck

I always thought I was pretty well versed on the subject of reproduction, but…how do you get pregnant with no fallopian tubes?

praying for your miracle

I know what it is like to desperately hope to be pregnant, and I am also keeping my fingers crossed for you.

However, to inject a note of caution, if you don’t start soon, it may be a good idea to go to your doctor even if the home test comes out negative. Without fallopian tubes, if you are pregnant, then it is possible that it may be an ectopic (outside the uterus) pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies can be life threatening, and don’t produce as much of the hormone that preganacy tests detect, so the test may be negative even if you are pregnant.

It’s possible, Rachelle. Good luck!

My grandmother’s first baby was a little boy, and he was stillborn. She and my grandfather were heartbroken, since they were married for seven years before they got pregnant.

A year later she delivered my aunt Bobbie. It was a very hard delivery (she was a little woman, but her babies were all very large) and the doctor advised them not to have more. They started on birth control.

A year passes, and she is pregnant again. This is my aunt Betty. The doctor ties her tubes.

Two years later, my grandmother gives birth to my aunt Bonny. This time the doctor cuts her tubes.

Another year passes, and my grandmother is pregnant again! This time the doctor is flabbergasted. She has my mother, Sharyon (they ran out of “B” names, though they briefly considered naming her Beatrice) and this time, the doctor cuts and then ties her tubes. No more babies this time!

Once my grandmother got started, she couldn’t seem to stop. So you never know!

Rachelle, that would be so wonderful! I remember reading your first thread and thinking how devastated I would be if that happened to me.

I’m sending as much good luck wishes as I can to you.

Oh MAN! Good luck! I really hope that you can make it happen, Rachelle!

Please keep us informed!!!

Rachelle, I’m rooting for you!

You’ll be in my thoughts, so please keep us updated!

Hmm…

The OP was put up on 3/12/01… why the sudden bump? Any news?
