I Think We're All Bozos on This Hearse

Larry Harmon, rest in peace.

I feel as though another part of my childhood is irrevocably lost.

On the other hand, I can’t stop thinking about the Mary Tyler Moore show.

A sad day for all of us who remember a more innocent time.

I don’t think he played Bozo in NY (it was Bill Britton, IIRC), but Larry will always be associated with the character in my mind. I wish we could have kids’ shows like that again.

I seem to remember that Harmon attempted to run for President one year, and wrote an article chronicling the hoops he had to jump through and all the red tape he encountered in an issue of National Lampoon many years ago. It was absolutely priceless!

You scared me! I thought one of the Firesign Theater guys had died. ::checks Wikipedia:: Nope, all still with us.

Harmon also owned the rights to the likenesses of Laurel and Hardy and produced cartoons and a live-action movie featuring them.

The thread title is somewhat ironic (but a good joke), as Harmon was very offended when people used “bozo” as an insult.

Rip

You’d think a clown would learn to laugh about it, particularly since the usage goes back to 1916, according to Merriam-Webster.
