Received. This website shows when mail-in ballots are actually counted in each state; it says that Michigan does not begin actually counting mail-in ballots until 7am on Election Day.
Thank you for the clarification, I was slighty confused.
I am curious as how Michigan will go. Theres this RV shop near my house that post insane Pro Trump messages on their eletronic billboard. I pray the state holds blue. When I dropped my wifes ballot off at the box, there was a lot of people at the early voting place (but then again they may have just been students.)
Commonly there’s a step between “received” and “counted”. That’s “accepted” or some similar word. Meaning they have examined the envelope, signatures, your registration record, etc., and decided that your ballot is valid and will be counted when the time comes. Rather than the opposite finding that your ballot is no good and won’t be counted because of whatever flaw.
Each state does this differently, but in my state ballots are processed for acceptance/rejection as soon as they are received, but aren’t counted until later. It took a couple days after mine went “received” before it switched to “accepted”; they were swamped with incoming mail.
I dropped my in a voting box from my car. Solidarity!
I’m curious as well. I think the Arabic vote is, stunningly, going to Trump or Stein.
Mind-boggling
Not mind-boggling. Telling them, “Party D supports an Israeli government that killed 40,000 Gazan civilians but you need to vote for them because Party R is even worse” isn’t going to win hearts.
Telling them Party R will actively help Netanyahu murder the rest isn’t really much of an attractive slogan, but that’s the ones the Rs are using.
So pretty boggling to me
It’s a classic cut off your nose to spite your face.
“Democrats aren’t stopping Israel! Well, I’ll show them by voting for their (political) enemies! That will teach them a lesson.”
Said enemies having actively and gleefully made the situation worse, and provided far more political support to the active warmongers in Israel in all previous administrations is of course, less important than the short term revenge against those CURRENTLY in power.
Not to mention, that party wants to kick you and all your brown-skinned friends out of this country.
Same, except mine was received and accepted at the same time.
I didn’t think it will be counted until election day, and they won’t notify me of that. It’s been accepted, and will be counted in due time.
I’m signed up to work a polling location on Tuesday … a long day is in store (approx 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM) and our registrar of voters says we can expect to be busy. Looking forward to it. I’ll report back if anything interesting happens.

Got to my precinct at 6:45 to a pretty long line outside the door. I had thought a lot of people voted early this year, but apparently many waited until voting day like me.
Voted via fax, of all things, trading off the security of a sealed envelope for the security of knowing my ballot actually got there on time (unlike last time where I never found out). Now I just have to trust in the integrity of the Supervisor of Elections office. I mean, it’s Florida but I’ve had no issues yet.
Had a fun time researching the candidates for Circuit Court judge (one of which turned out to be a Federalist Society member so that was a big nope) and trying to figure out what the hell a Mosquito Control Commissioner was and what makes one qualified for the job.
On the national level, about 80m voted early one way or another. Which is very roughly 50% of the total 2020 turnout. Assuming similar turnout this time, that still leaves about 80M to vote today.
Of course what matters for your experience is what the voters in just your precinct did earlier or are doing today.
What are you, living in an alternate timeline, or something?
(If somebody named Biff wants to fight you, don’t do it, even if he does call you a chicken)
Believe me, trying to find a way to fax it was more complicated that I had anticipated. In the end I gave up and paid for a week’s subscription to a fax app.
Florida do not accept ballots via email. That they still use fax is, well, kind of sad. But I suppose it can’t be hacked.
ETA: And it was Needles who called people “chicken”.
In what jurisdiction and under what circumstances in 2024 do they allow voting by fax? I’ve heard of military service members doing this while stationed overseas…thirty years ago before email was commonly used.
How would you know? Are you able to call someone to confirm they received it?
ETA: I see you addressed not being able to use email to vote in Florida.
Here in Chicago suburbia, my mom voted “early” yesterday and said it was an hour and a half line. My wife and I voted this morning and walked right in and out. It was moderately busy – most of the booths had someone in them – but no waiting either. So, uh, thanks all you early voters!
I voted this morning before work in my little western PA town. The poll workers were talking about how many people had already shown up to vote between 7 and 7:45 AM. They commented they had never seen anything like this.
There were 2 people actually registering to vote when I went in.
