I wanna make a movie, too (costume help needed)

Well, reading Johnny LA’s thread, I didn’t want to hijack it, but it got me thinking about my own plans. A few friends and I got an idea for a little t.v. show we were thinking of shooting for the local college’s t.v. station. We’ve all graduated or got out of the station, but we’ve finally got a script together and we’re going ahead with the pilot. The big problem is, we need some help finding costumes. So, I figured I’d come here and see if anyone knows where one could find some of those classic fishbowl space helmets. You know, the one’s used in a lot of really old (generally crappy) sci-fi movies. Most recent use was in Austin Powers: the Spy Who Shagged Me. We’ve checked all the local costume shops here in Austin, and haven’t had any luck online yet, so I’m hoping someone might be able to give us a hand.
Also, we’re looking for really good skeleton costumes. The ones we’ve found are loosely tied in the back and hang like a sack, so we’re looking for more spandexy, tight costumes, unless there’s something more realistic out there. So, if anyone knows of a good costume shop out there that might have a good inventory of such items, please let me know. Thanks.

Hmmm…I’d have sent you to Lucy In Disguise/Electric Ladyland on South Congress, but sounds like you’ve already been there. Have you considered making costumes? Might be a lot cheaper than renting in the long run. Most fabric stores give sewing classes pretty cheaply.

Hey,El, if you can make a drive down here try Starline on Bandera.
Or give them a call: (210)435-3535.

You might also try Gibson’s: (210)826-7811.

Good luck!

By the way, are you a Red Elvises fan?

Why yes, yes I am. And thanks for the help.
