I want a huge neck.

I want a huge, muscular neck. Sort of like Henry Rollins in that one video. I know that a general great workout regimen will yield one, somewhat, but there has to be some neck exercises that will specifically target same for the big muscles, and quick results.
Can anybody help?
thanks,

Not sure about quick results (not be a weightlifter I have no idea how fast results happen), but there are machines for ‘weight training’ your neck. It’s basically a thing that you push down with your head (or side to side) and it pulls up weights somewhere else. Hold on a sec, I bet I can find a picture.

Here’s one

Not the one I was thinking of, but same basic idea.

A couple of things to remember with muscle development.

Doing exercises for your neck will certainly increase your neck strength, but whether it results in a “huge” neck depends on your physiology, just as for other strength training. When I started weight training my strength (measured by the weights I was lifting) skyrocketed in the first year but I didn’t get much bigger.

There are lots of machines for neck training, like the one linked above. In high school we had a contraption that was basically just a spring with a headband attached to it and we would pull it in different directions. Others put your head between two parallel pads on the sides and you turn back and forth, or front and back and you sort of nod your head. Nautilus makes (or at least used to make) them. My gym had one but that was 18 years ago and they aren’t so common now. Here’s someone selling some used ones with a decent photo.

A lot depends on your muscle configuration (long muscle bellies mean easier to build bulk, for example). Of course, with steriods YMMV.

Neck exercises can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing.

My brother was a highschool wrestler & he developed his neck by doing a ‘wrestler’s bridge’ (see http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/schultz8.htm

Deadlifts and shrugs.

Do it as cheaply as possible. You’ll need the money for tailored dress shirts. The only off-the-rack shirts that fit a big neck are for fat guys, and will look like balloons on most people.

I stare with open longing at deli counter meat slicers.

Ditto. In fact, I just do deadlifts because I don’t want my neck to entirely disappear.

You beat me to it. When I had an 18" neck, with an average build, every off the rack shirt hung off me like a dang tent.

You do realize that a lot of women find the huge neck thing extremely unattractive, right?

I certainly find the huge-neck thing quite unattractive, as Twickster says.

Ditto that.

I reckon my neck is proportioned about right, I just need a little head.

Don’t we all, Dukey. Don’t we all.

I want a scrawny neck. Sort of the exact opposite of Henry Rollins in that one video. There has to be some neck exercises that will specifically target same for a weak scrawny neck, and quick results.

Thanks everybody for the good input.

Ask George Lucas his secret. That guy’s got the biggest neck in Hollywood.
