I Want My Yogurt Low Fat, Not Sugar Free!

Okay, all I want is something very simple: low fat yogurt in individual serving cups that doesn’t have an artificial sweetener. It seems that the individual-serving containers of fruit-flavored yogurt with a low fat content are almost guaranteed to be sweetened with aspartame. The only way to get low fat without the fake stuff is to buy a one quart sized container. I cannot eat these fast enough, however, and always end up throwing away half a quart of watery, moldy yogurt. It’s a waste of food, time and money.

Why is there a presumption that someone who wants to skip some of the fat must be on some calorie restricted diet that precludes them from eating sugar too? Has yogurt really become its stereotype, a food slurped down primarily by the masses of perpetual dieters instead of people who have a simple preference to eat a healthy diet as opposed to a restricted one?

Yogurt is good for the digestive system and has lots of calcium to help grow strong UnbornBabytlw bones. Aspartame, on the other hand, is fakey, lab created garbage that I’m not putting into our systems. And the aspartame versions only save about ten calories compared to the versions with real sugar. So what’s the point?

This bedrest thing isn’t good for me. All I can do is sit here, watch tv, post on the SDMB and think about food. I’ve been thinking about yogurt since Monday, and I can’t find one that suits my desires.

My kingdom (queendom?) for an individual cup of lowfat, no aspartame, vanilla or strawberry yogurt!
