I want Simpsons back

I was as devastated as much as the next doper on Sept. 11th but I want Fox Sunday back to normal so I can watch Simpsons and Malcolm like I used to. The New York station is the only Fox station I get and it has yet to have ONE regular sunday night’s programming. I want the Simpsons! I want Malcolm! I need good humor at night, not ‘There’s something about Mary’ or ‘Jerry McGuire’. Yech! :stuck_out_tongue:

I second that!

Why will they not at least show Simpsons/Malcolm reruns? It’s not as though shitty “comedy” movies are any more sensitive.

Not to mention Futurama.

Yeah, Futurama is good too. King of the Hill I can do without though.

Same thing for Wednesday nights and FAMILY GUY. The past two weeks they’ve been messing with it. Last Wednesday they felt it was necessary to re-air the premiere of Love Cruise. Blech!! And now this week it’s the baseball playoffs. Now, the baseball part I can understand, they are huge contracts. But the Love Cruise deal? What the fuck is up with that?

I almost could’ve started my own rant thread, huh?

I checked the KOTH website, which states that the next first-run episode will be on 11/4. The Simpsons website just says “November”, and Futurama doesn’t have an active website, but I’m assuming that all three will start the same night. Don’t know if Malcolm and X-Files will be coordinated, although I suppose new eps of Malcolm can’t just hang in space above reruns of the animateds.

Also found out from the Simpsons website that the N’Sync/YVAN EHT NIOJ episode is being pulled from syndication.

I know how you feel. Thank God for the Simpsons DVD. :)True it’s only the first 13 episodes, but I never have to go w/o a Simpsons fix again.

TV Guide sez november 4 for the whole fox sunday lineup, if memory serves me correctly. my guess is that it has something to do with baseball. i dunno.

Except that the first season sucks? So how does that satisfy a Simpsons craving?

Seriously, though, if it works for you, good.

See, there’s always an upside to every situation!

Why, pray tell, would they pull the N’Sync episode?

Probably because of the subliminal message to “join the navy”. They are catering to the hypersensitive folks who don’t want the “wrong message” given about the armed forces.

I roll my eyes at it, however, understand that they are feeling like they should follow the “better safe than sorry” rule.

They’re pulling it - OLD SCHOOL!

From the relevant article: “[Mike]Reiss also said that the N’Sync episode of recent days is being pulled from syndication for its depiction of New York.” Whatever that depiction was. But the subliminal, as well as the video dancers wearing bikinis and veils, must also have contributed.

That’s it exactly. FOX has exclusive rights to show all of the baseball playoffs (though some of the games are being carried on Fox Family and FX) and the World Series. We also won’t get Family Guy or The Tick until the WS is over.

The fictional Mad Magazine skyscraper is destroyed. I don’t think people want to see New York buildings (real or not) blowing up at this time.

The new Simpsons episodes have sucked for several seasons now. I plan on watching it this year only when R.E.M. does their guest appearance.

As for the DVDs, yeah the first season isn’t as good as when the show hit its stride, but I’m a fiend for DVD commentaries, and the ones I’ve heard so far are very revealing. BTW, if you think the first season was poorly animated, disc 3 has a short clip of what they first got back from the animators–and it’s TERRIBLE. The producers said they almost scrapped the whole show.

Oh, SHIT. I forgot they were going to be on there. When does the show air?

I read on alt.tv.simpsons that they also pulled the episode where they go to New York and Homer gets a parking ticket and a boot on his car. Besides the fact the the WTC is central to the episode, there is a scene where two guys from both towers are arguing through the open windows and the guy in the east tower says something like “they put all the jerks in the west tower”. That gag probably isn’t in very good taste nowadays, but when it was written they had no way of knowing that such a tragedy would happen. I don’t remember the title of the episode, but I think it’s too bad they’re pulling these shows. They were made before the events of 9/11 and have no relation to the events. Pulling them is a careful business decision, I understand that, but it is still pushing it a bit too far, and close to censorship IMHO. I can only hope that this is a temporary situation.

I agree but don’t you want The X-Files back too? I do.
