How can we forget Raising Helen? A maudlin piece of dreck. I didn’t want to see it, as it looked awful and had Kate Hudson in it, who I’ve hated in everything except Almost Famous, where she was merely tolerable. However, I still managed to hate someone in the movie more than Kate Hudson: Hayden Panettiere, who played the oldest daughter. The two of them were the bratty/obnoxious/unpleasant twins. In addition to hating the movie on it’s own (lack of) merit, I despise anything that makes out the only responsible person (Joan Cusack’s character) as the bad guy.
I’m glad I’m not the only one bothered by that.
I liked (and own) Mean Girls… :runs:
You’re crazy.
Humor, car chases, Vince Vaughn… what’s not to like? The disco scene was freakin’ hilarious, and you are obviously not human if you made it through that scene with a straight face. And Har Mar Superstar is the man, whether you like it or not. Try and support the locals at least. Damn, this whole thing just makes me so sad.
So am I the only one who actually liked The Whole Ten Yards? (own that one, too)
Avoid The Forgotten. It was dumb, boring and disappointing. And forgettable!
I keep seeing previews for The Forgotten on some of my wifes other DVDs. It looks from the previews that the plot goes something like, Heroine realizes that there is something not right in the world, and for some reason, people get yanked off the face of the planet.
Lemme guess…
Aliens or some advanced civilzation are realy experementing with her.
The moment someone identified themselves as being with the NSA, I turned to the SO and said:
“There had better not be any aliens involved or I’m going to the other room to read a book.” Sure enough, I got the chance to finish my book.
So do I get the vote for this as the worst movie of 2004 despite not having sat through the whole steaming pile?
Um, can I nominate Spiderman 2?
After the joy that was Spiderman, I had high hopes for the sequel. But it was a lot of talk talk talk and navel-gazing, and I found myself checking my watch more than once.
Bleh. What a disappointment.
Now, do I need to duck behind something large to avoid the pelting with rotten fruit and vegetables, or does someone agree with me?
Hey, come on! Mean Girls was a really entertaining, intelligent, well-made flick!
I saw The Village on DVD just last night. Without commenting on its quality, I’d like to mention that although the store has more than two dozen copies (evidenced by their “Display Box Only” cases) in the new-releases section, I had check back several times before I could find a copy in the store – and the clerk was so excited when I returned it! “The only copy of The Village in the store!” What’s more, I bet you could say the same about every other movie mentioned in this thread when its DVD first was (or will be) released: Even after it’s had its theater run, and its reputation for good or ill has had time to get out there, there’s still a big market for it! I wonder why that is?
