I Want To Know: Who here at the SDMB likes bees?

Eddie Izzard likes bees. You should to.

I bet there will be a pit thread about this soon, oh yes. Methinks there is a war about to erupt on the SDMB.

COVERED IN BEES!!!

“I will be a beekeeper. I want to follow in my father’s footsteps and my grandfather’s footsteps. Their footsteps were like this: AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! ::runs in circles::”

Lucky Charms

You remind me very much of a friend of mine, complete with the screaming and running in circles.
Hilarious.

I like honeybees. Especially the black Italian ones. Very pleasant company. About the only insects I can stand.

But what the hell was that OP about?

I think bumblebees are cute. Sweet little bumblebees!

On a side note… I thought I read years ago that kids in India have them on strings as pets. (Like Luther Driggers in Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil did with flies.) Anybody heard of this?

I like bees, although I can give Sting a miss.

In Australia we have native stingless bees but hardly anyone knows they exist. They look like houseflies.

Now that you mention it dropzone, what the hell is the OP about? I find it funny that people are replying semi-seriously to such a bizarre thread opening to be honest.

It was meant to be another parody thread, and I dunno, it sounded good. I’ve grown really fond of the OP’s randomness after rereading it a few times. I should have really gone for the full effect though.

I wanna see how long this thread lasts.

Lucky

I had a roommate (from Kansas, not India) who used to catch wasps (shake 'em in a margarine tub to daze them for a minute or two), then tie threads around them as leashes. He’d have 4 or 5 wasps he could take for a walk (or fly?). Of course, unlike dogs, wasps aren’t always straining at the end of the leash. If they started coming back toward him, he’d have to whirl the leashes lasso style so the wasps would be pulled to the end of the line again.

The ASPCW probably wouldn’t like it, but it was pretty funny.

What do you call a fly with no wings??
A walk.

dqa, I wondered if somebody else had ever done this. I’ll tell you, the image of somebody taking a bunch of really annoyed wasps for a “fly” has got me so cracking up right now. I can just imagine what the poor things were probably screaming:
"Bbzzzzmotherfkerbzzzcksuckerbzzz! Gonna sting your sorry ass! Dammit, stop dodging, bbzzzzcoward!)

And then there was this right below…

HEE! I love that joke! I had forgotten that one. Totally my kind of humor.
