I want to name a Starship after a Redshirt

I’m writing a fanfiction story and I’ve decided that I want a Starship named after a Redshirt - those random security crew personnel that Kirk leaves behind to get slaughtered by the monster of the week. (The starship is a MACO troop carrier.)

In your opinion, who is the most heroic Redshirt in Star Trek history?

Guy.

Lt. Galloway (As played by David Ross). Made it through NINE episodes.

Name it the “Fodder”.

Galloway is a good choice, as is Lt. Leslie. Both are notable because they were killed on-screen (not merely dead, but really most sincerely dead) and yet came back.

Slightly more than red-shirt fodder were Lt. Kevin Riley and, of course, Yeoman Rand. Riley survived both Kodos the Executioner and the attempted poisoning by Kodos’ daughter, Lenore.

Riley wore yellow.

Galloway’s Wiki entry made me lol.

You’re as mad as she is! You’re to leave here at once! I follow orders!

Whoops, sorry! Wrong thread!

“What is ‘Turnabout Intruder’?”

“Okay. I’ll take ‘Episodes where the First Officer was insanely treated like shit’ for $500, Alex.”
“For $500, ‘I’m sick and tired of this machine!’”

What is “The Galileo Seven”?

The real life equivalent for it would be Reuben James, who had 3 ships names after him (for sacrificial heroism that was actually done by Daniel Frazier, making Frazier the ultimate redshirt).

Who art in heaven…

That’s why I referred to Riley as “slightly more than red shirt fodder.”

No, in a castle. “'Yondah lies da castle of my fodder”:stuck_out_tongue:

Great answers. It looks like I’m going to commission the USS *Galloway. *

How about naming after the guy who played Guy? USS Rockwell.

And have it carry fighters, so the Fodder is a muddership.

Behold da USS Bernie Schwartz.

The USS Ensign Ricky

The USS Kerensky

…I was always partial to Yeoman Leslie Thompson. It was shocking for my younger self to see she was the one to get crushed.

So the USS Leslie Thompson would be cool.
