Are you absolved retroactively if you decide at the last minute not to go through with the sin? Like say I want to murder my wife. I get a gun, load it, aim it at her head while she’s asleep and then, just before I do her in I think, “Nah, I can make her so much more miserable if I keep her alive.” Have I just un-sinned?

I’m not really mad or anything, I DO understand and admire her for not doing anything. It just sucks when you meet someone who is extremely compatible in every way and they are married.

She did the right thing for the wrong reason. Anyone who does anything because they think a religion requires it is a fool.

However, she did make a promise to her husband, the “forsaking all others” thing. Honor and integrity means you don’t break promises.
