I was listening to the radio as I was running errands today and I heard a song I hadn’t heard in a while. In high school, it was my go-to sexy song, a song that really got my engine running. And today, it still did that. It got me thinking about sexy songs. There are the obvious ones like I Want Your Sex and Sexual Healing, of course, but what other songs are “sexy”
What are your favorite sexy songs and why?
I like:
Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi: that song always makes me feel like getting naked. Like I should start some sort of illicit love affair, or break someone’s heart, or just have slow passionate sex.
**Closer by Nine Inch Nails: the goth girl in me remembers nights of going to the goth bars, wearing fishnet and short skirts and grinding against guys and girls to this song, begging to get into their black pants.
Let’s Stay Together by Al Green: That song makes me feel like doing a sexy striptease. Gyrating my hips to that R&B beat…mmm… When I hear that song, no matter where I am, I can’t help but move.
I Burn For You, by Sting – oh baaaby. Originally from the soundtrack of the film Brimstone and Treacle. (Actually there’s also an even sexier version, though it’s not as polished - a demo from Sting’s pre-Police band, Last Exit.) I just imagine lying in a forest glade at moonlight while [del]Sting[/del] the man of my dreams ravishes me (and I, him). Le sigh!
And to go 180 degrees from the ethereal, otherworldly sexiness of Sting, I also offer Shoop, Salt ‘n’ Pepa kickin’ some old style hip hop with lyrics juuust this side of raunchy. Great beat and the video’s hot as hell too.
My first thought was Divine Hammer by The Breeders. A cheerful, upbeat song about wanting a nice, hard penis. Just a great combination of mood and lyrics. Gigantic, by the Pixies (but also sung by Kim Deal) has a similar thing going on but it doesn’t sound sexy to me.
There are a whole bunch of sexy reggae songs but Push It In by the Versatiles is gloriously cheerful and forthright and has a great rhythm.
As others have mentioned early Prince is great for this stuff too - Dirty Mind, I Wanna Be Your Lover.
I tend to prefer the “yup, I’m upfront and in your face sexy with the lyrics and beat” type songs as opposed to the more subtle gentle ones. And now that I think of it, they seem to lean heavily toward the metal genre. hmmmm…

And some of his later stuff, too. In addition to the plenty of songs listed by everyone else, I’d add Le Grind, Cream, and Gett Off. If Prince is playing at a dance club, there will be grinding on the dance floor.
Paula Cole’s “Feelin’ Love” is pure sex if you like Paula’s voice. Kinda helps for me that not only do I like her voice, but my first exposure to this song was at a burlesque-themed retro fashion show… hot stuff. “#1 Crush” by Garbage has a creepy obsession theme in the lyrics, but the song itself is pretty sexy.
My ex liked the upfront “I’m a girl and I want meaningless sex” theme of Ke$ha’s “Blah Blah Blah,” but I thought it was just a little too poppy to be sexy. I’m more partial to the similarly-themed, crunchier, and more raunchy song “Might Like You Better” by Amanda Blank. Peaches also has a lot of sexy stuff, and “Mommy Complex” off of her newest album is good (though the video kinda ruins it for me). For more standard dance music/sex music, I also like “Get Me Off” by Basement Jaxx, Benny Benassi’s “Who’s Your Daddy” and “Satisfaction,” Britney Spears’ “Get Naked (I Got a Plan).”
