I was hanging with a maybe killer last night.

That’s why I’m confused! I could have sworn the guy in the OP was already in prison. “Why does everyone keep saying Stacy? I thought it was Lacey?”

Makes so much more sense now.

The commentary around the time was something like, "If you’re a woman with a name that ends in ‘-ey’ and you married a guy with that last name, look out! "

It’s very much a Chicago-area crime, though the guy did go on Larry King Live and… something else, I thought. Maybe the Today show. It was kind of creepy how unconcerned he usually sounded about the fact that his wife had ditched him and their kids to run off with some mystery man, and covered her tracks so well that no one could find her, to the point where he was being looked at.* If I were him I’d be trying to do the near-tearful “Please call and let our kids know you’re OK” appeals or something.

  • (Not to mention that neighbors saw him move a 55-gallon drum out of the house at night not long after she disappeared.)

I don’t know about his guilt, but I think that his not giving a flip about where his whore ex-wife* is reasonable. If I had a wife run off with another man, I wouldn’t even address the fact of her ever having existed, let alone some whiny plea, in front of the whole of the nation, to call him.
Also, he’s a cop, so he probably has a macho image to uphold, so he can’t be crying all over the place about some woman leaving him.

*Benefit of the doubt in case his story is true.

On the subject of his marital woes, though, I would like to point out that I once took out a woman, 27 years old, who had buried three husbands (yes, they were dead). I don’t know if the police ever checked into her or not.

I know a guy who’s done over thirty years in state and federal prison for, among other things, murder and nine bank robberies, including a shoot-out with the FBI. As far as I know, he’s a law-abiding citizen now. But I’m pretty sure he deeply regrets his past, and if he hadn’t told me about all this, I wouldn’t have suspected it.

I didn’t realize you live in the same general geographical area as I do. I have been lucky enough to never run into Drew Peterson or Craig Stebic. It’s possible they may not be guilty but they sure do give off that OJ vibe.
