I wish this site used serif fonts

I keep reading about some guy named Al. He seems to be in a lot of threads. More recently, there’s a thread with two guys named Al having a fight, in a site owned by a third guy named Al. I’m just surprised Al Gore isn’t involved yet.

AI Trump vs AI Biden in AI-Generated Debate

:notes: “I sought the serif…”

“But it didn’t suit the devs, you see…” :notes:

Install the Stylus extension:

Firefox

Chrome

Wikipedia page

And then install this Stylus extension I just wrote:

Click the blue Install button on the bottom right.

I’ll fix it if someone wants me to.

@Derleth: Maybe it’s just me, but I tend to think Georgia makes for the better serif font.

Maybe just setting the font family to “serif” would be good, so it will use the browser’s default serif font, which people can configure.

:+1:
Wow. I post one of Discourse’s emojis and they complain there weren’t enough characters.

Done, and I think it does look better.

Weird AI was rather upset to hear that any music he produces will no longer be considered eligible for Grammy awards.

Discourse has a how-to article on how an administrator can change the default font.

I think this is for the site-wide default. I imagine this is something that can be set on a per-theme basis, also. (And that might be a better answer.)

Phil Foglio’s Buck Godot comics included a graphic novel titled “PSmIth” featuring a telepathic group mind. One gets the joke much faster in a serif font.

What does that mean, please? What’s an extension?

Beat the OP by four hours in that linked thread.

Thanks for making it a topic that provided a solution.

Wow. I installed @BigT’s workaround and everything looks way different in serifs. Thanks to you, too, for the effort.

An extension, here, is a browser extension. It’s a small piece of software you install into your web browser by going to a special site and giving it permission to install that software. I gave links to the sites relevant to both Firefox and Chrome for the extension under discussion, which is called Stylus.

Which browser do you use?

That extension doesn’t appear to be available for mobile Firefox, so no soap for me. (Since 90% of my SDMB participation is from my smartphone.)

I use Chrome on an Acer.

Then click this link, install the extension, then click on this link and click the blue Install button near the bottom right of the page (you may need to scroll down) to install my actual style relevant to these pages.

Yay! it worked! Thanks!

Stylus isn’t, but the Android version of Firefox does provide TamperMonkey, which can be finagled to do apply stylesheets. Install TM from the addons list, and then click the Install button here:

This works well. Thanks.

Now I have to decide if I actually prefer a serif font over the usual sans. Probably just a matter of getting used to it.

Thanks.

FUNNY!

Installed and working fine, Thanks
