I wonder if there are any TV/movie/sports stars on the SDMB.

I have had about eleven or twelve Letters to the Editor printed in three different newspapers, though none national. One of the three was a free alternative newspaper, the other two the major newspapers of the area. The first newspaper I was published in liked my letters enough that they eventually published every one of the letters I sent. I had only a few rejected. I have moved since and have had only one letter printed in the major local newspaper, though I have only sent two and have not sent a letter for months. I’ve lost my edge.

I help people. That’s what I do.

Hahaha that was the best show ever.

My favorite scene was one where the Searcher was locked in the trunk of a car and lit his lighter to see what there was, talking to himself in that halting speech:

"A jack…An earthquake kit…a leaky can of gasoline…A leaky can of… "BLAM!! (complete with stuffed dummy flying 50 feet in the air)

Being in the television broadcasting business, I’ve worked with a fair number of notable (or notorious, depending on how you look at it) people, but of course professional ethics demand that I not reveal who they were.

Me? My name has appeared in the credits of many television programs. But it goes by so fast nobody can read it and it’s always twenty names after “Best Boy Grip” anyway, so who cares?

Yup, that’s when I was on. 81-82, from Lake Braddock (Va). We won our first two games, then blew it in the third. I have tapes from that, but on Beta. I have to get them converted someday… what team were you on?

Not a very strong one though. I’m working on it. I’m considering getting MDIA WHR for my license plate.

I don’t know much about SIRTF, but I do know Doris Dao who works on Education and Public outreach for SIRTF. I was on a SIRTF proposal that failed.

Same thing here; It’s Academic in the Buffalo/Western New York/Northeast Pennsylvania market, in 1983/1984. My team also made it to the final round, but we ended up in second place, 40 points behind West Seneca West HS. Sigh.

Hey BA, I know Doris from our undergraduate days at the U. of Montreal a long, long time ago. I even asked her out once.and she said no!
Plus my wife and her were both SDAs at STScI.

Wonders never cease.
I wonder if she knows just how famous she is!

My uncle is in the mafia. Seriously. His father is the boss of the biggest Jewish gang in Montreal. I think his dad’s in jail for murder/arson. Also, my ex-uncle (my uncle’s brother, yes my aunt married someone, divorced, and married his brother.) was also in the Mafia, and was murdered. I wouldn’t be suprised if they were on some Mafia web site on the 'net.

My grandfather was also a very well-known Chemist in his day (wrote a lot of papers, many which are published), and has his name in many advanced Chem. books (seen 'em).

I’m on the November 2002 cover of Videography Magazine. In the t.v. industry, it’s as close as I’ll ever get, to making the cover of Rolling Stone. I’m the guy in the E.M.T. shirt.

I’m in roughly 1/3 the shots of the Limp Bizkit video, Nookie. I’m the one in the cammo gear with the Steadicam on. I’ve never seen the video, but I’ve gotten accounts from those trusted few…

Cartooniverse

I care. I read credits to the absolute end. The biggest crime of the last 30 years is the two-box end-of-show title abuse that happens at the end of the 10:00-10:59 programming block, when the local news bumps in with a two-box, obliterating the credits for the show that just finished.

-sniffle- I care, man. I do.

Hey, who’s your wife? I might very well know her! I did a lot of work at the 'tute during grad school, and met a lot of the SDAs. I was just there a couple of weeks ago making the rounds, saying hi. That was fun.
