She undid her attempts by posting to her own trainwreck with the new name. No one made her to do that. How much of that was stupidity, how much was attention whoring, and how much of it was lack of judgement/self-control on her part, I don’t know. I wish the mods who did the name change had advised her to let this brouhaha cool a little while before she made the change, so she could actually have achieved a something of a fresh start, but they didn’t, so now it’s fucked up.
Yes, this thread makes the name change attempt a little more obvious, but the damage was already done by RSSchen herself. Let’s not do revisionist history here and exhonerate RSSchen for another self-sabotaging move in ruining her own attempt at hiding her trail, or protecting herself, or whatever it was. I think it’s a rather ironic and sad metaphor for her life, though.
Nope, every post she ever made now has her new name on it. She didn’t need to post anywhere for it to be obvious. I actually don’t understand what the user or the admin who did it thought they were achieving as it was 100% pointless.
The only way out was to have the original username die and to start with a completely new name. This has been done at least once(with the permission of the admin) to my knowledge but that was to avoid very silly childish hounding of a member for no good reason. The only reason I know about it is that some amateur Sherlock’s had to show how clever they were and outed the new ID.
It the long run it never works. You eventually will always be you.

Regardless, it’s going to go away in a relatively short time. The name change? Wasn’t going to do that for her. She made her bed so she’s got to lie in it (sic) for a few days more. Then it’ll be gone to non-members.
My point is, if she had let the trainwreck drop off the charts, then changed her name, it probably wouldn’t have generated too much comment and she could have gone on to post here in some semblance of normalcy. You’re right that it probably wouldn’t have worked so hot, but the way she did it, it did NOTHING but make her look stupid(er). As for throwing people off her real life tracks, I don’t think there was any remedy for that once it was done sort of deleting the offending posts.

I basically agree with your POV BTW but there are a lot that don’t as is very clear from the other pit thread. People can be bastards, even nice people when they feel they’ve got the moral superiority to be so. Trust me on this, she’ll eventually be hounded off the board. You’ve written something several times now which I disagree with but haven’t found a reason to take issue with it until now. You’ve written that one can be cured from anxiety. I disagree.
I liken anxiety to alcoholism. IMO, one can reduce or eliminate the debilitating physical manifestations of anxiety (which can return) but still have the emotional and psychological tendencies which show themselves in behaviors. Just as people were telling RSSchen et al that she was a dry drunk, I also believe that people with anxiety may not physically manifest the symptoms but have the same behaviors from the psychological tendencies. Since you’ve already noted that you are part of an anxiety group, I don’t think it’s any secret that you consider yourself to have anxiety.
And I’ve noticed the tendency for you to exhibit the manifestations of that, IMO. I was trying to point that out in this post here. You might want to ask why I used David Burns and those psychological terms instead of conservationists as evidence in a thread about animal extinction. I was trying to make the point that the issue wasn’t animal extinction. . . it was the catastrophic thinking that made it into a dichotomy between animals and humans. Perhaps the point was too subtle. When you didn’t seem to understand the intent, I let it go because it wasn’t hurting anyone.
But here again, you’re using catastrophic thinking (RSSchen et al is going to hurt us) and black-and-white thinking (good and bad people) to create an OP. And this one had the potential to actually hurt someone. Luckily, no one else bought in. But when people say that they’re over anxiety, I believe they’re doing the same thing RSSchen et al is doing when she says she’s over alcohol. One can be over the physical manifestation and still be exhibiting the other symptoms. Anxiety just like alcoholism requires constant vigilance.
I think this extended metaphor needs to be hung out to dry. Either that or batted out of the park.

You have badly mis-understood anything I have written in the past about anxiety - I don’t believe I have ever said you can be cured of anxiety, because anxiety is a normal human emotion. I have said that you can recover from an anxiety disorder. The two things are not the same. I have read the Dr. David Burns book, “The Feeling Good Handbook,” amongst many others on the subject of anxiety disorders, and I understood all your references to his book in the previous thread.
