I would s**t my pants if I was this cop.

Nope, I need my feet to escape. I’m pretty sure a snake that big would only be pissed off after nine rounds.

The whitesnakes, on the other hand, are pretty cool!

Jeez. Cheesy 80s throwback much?

I’m unimpressed by this article. I’m not affraid of snakes nor repulsed by tyhem, if I know they aren’t poisonous. So, I would probably try to do what he did if asked to, without much of a second thought. That said, maybe I would be wrong in thinking that I’m not putting myself in a significant danger, and hence would get a Darwin award for it but I wouldn’t have at first thought of this situation as life threatening or nightmarish.

Had I witnessed the incident, I would probably just have thought of it as bizarre and worth mentionning : “I saw a cop struggling with a huge snake” but wouldn’t have thought the cop needed brass balls to do it.

I grew up near Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base and one street in my town was completely populated by Marines who all deployed overseas at the same time leaving all of their wives alone. The wives helped each other with everything while their husbands were deployed.

One time, one of them found a snake in her yard while all of the husbands were gone (have I told this story before ? )

The snake was killed by all of the women on the street. It was killed by being run over by a lawn mower. It was killed by being beaten by a hoe. It was killed by being doused with gasoline and set on fire. Finally, it was killed (again) by being shot with a shotgun. (have I told this story before ? )

I don’t usually boast, but I was there while the event was unfolding.

I took a shot with my camera phone.

Here it is.

I don’t quite understand keeping a snake as a pet. A pet paper shredder would be a little more entertaining. Despite the Tarzan movies, pythons aren’t that scary. The bitey end is as deadly as a toy poodle  , and the wrappy part is a one-trick critter. If you’re more clever than a mouse, you’re okay.

Tarzan had to work to make it look like he was in peril.
