Ian Brown (former Stone Roses lead singer) - Are his solo albums any good?

…and, if so, which ones?

F.E.A.R and Ring Of Fire are excellent.

His albums have the occassional good song, but it’s hard to believe he was once in the Stone Roses. Get his “Greatest Hits” and miss all the dross.

F.E.A.R is one of my all tim e favourite songs.

Every line of the verses is made up of words begining with those letters.

For Each A Road
For Everyman A Religion
Find Everybody And Rule
F*** Everything And Rumble
Forget Everything And Remember
For Everything A Reason
Forgive everybody and remember

Some of his solo stuff is fine, but it’s hard to reconcile his and Squire’s work since the Stone Roses with what they did then. That album was such a bolt from the blue. Changed a lot of people’s lives.

//seriously most 80’s goth/alternative kids in the UK jumped ship about this time. The rave scene kinda died a death when amphetamines and happy hardcore turned out more profitable, sadly. Was great while it lasted though.

Well, this is a few more replies than I thought I’d get. I think Ian Brown has got the coolest voice and just his voice is going to make average songs sound good for me. He was in town here recently and I can’t believe I didn’t go. What was I thinking?
