Ice cream for thanksgiving?

I bring something to the family every Thanksgiving and this year it’s going to be some homemade ice cream. I’m on a kick and can’t stop cranking the stuff out. Mmm, is it good. Just last week I made a mix with dark chocolate and banana and now I’ve got some cinnamon in the freezer. It’s an addiction, I tell you.

I want to make an ice cream to share with everyone at Thanksgiving. Any tips? I was thinking something along the lines of cinnamon with some rum, but I’m not really sure. Something that just screams ‘fall’ would be perfect.

I wonder how a gingerbread ice cream would taste. Mmmm.

Pumpkin would seem obvious. I once had pumpkin cookies that contained chocolate chips which were nice. Or pumpkin with candied ginger bits? Look around for various pumpkin recipes to get ideas for other potential add-ins also.

French vanilla with rum & nutmeg.

My grandma makes pumpkin ice cream every year and it is really good.

My favorite ice cream flavor that I can’t get any more since I moved cross-country is gingersnap-molasses. Molasses ice cream with hunks of gingersnap cookies. It would seem to fit into the fall theme as well.

Do other family members bring pie? Cinnamon ice cream is great on apple pie, and I think it would probably be good with pumpkin, too. If you know that certain pies will be present, you could make a coordinating ice cream.
