You know what I’m talking about. Those moments in movies, TV shows or books where a character identifies his or herself so distinctively and iconically that it becomes a meme or gets YouTubed, etc. A couple of examples would be “I AM SPARTACUS” or “I’m Batman”. Knock yourselves out and if you want to add a clip, go ahead. One at a time, though. I just used two for purposes of illustration.
“I am Iron Man” is pretty memorable.
Does “I’m the king of the world!” from Titanic count?
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
And let us not forget, “I am the fucking hall monitor.”
“I am Gumby, dammit!” (Eddie Murphy on SNL)
“I am the one who knocks.”
- Walter White
Good evening. I’m Chevy Chase, and you’re not.
“Luke, I’m your Father”
I am not a NUMBER! I am a FREE MAN!
“I’m the best there is, the best there was, the best there will be.”— Bret “The Hitman” Hart
“To be the MAN you have to beat the MAN. And I am The MAN.” — “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair
That feels different to me. That’s doesn’t define the character, it redefines it.
“Look at me. Look at me. I am the captain now.”
“What nationality are you?”
“I’m a drunkard.”
“That makes Rick a citizen of the world.”
Do do do do do do do, vote for me.
“I am the Great and Powerful…! Wizard, of Oz…”
(Now that I think about it, it is pretty iconic when the flammable shrub used the same line.)
