I'd like to kill my roommate, but I'm afraid just doing it once wouldn't be enough

The metaphor could be worked, though. Clearly no one has seen any evidence of their physical existence; we have but the word of neutron star that he has been in touch with them, and they told him to have faith – soon they will come, and smite the wicked, and cast him/them down to a place he/they do not want to be.

Once in thieving Dave’s own roo-oom
Stood neutron star’s check book
And his money was forsaken;
Said the police, “We’ll take a look”
And they led poor neutron on
To believe Dave will be gone.

IME as a (formerly religious) Jew, they’re rather content with the idea that he’s probably never going to come. It gets a little tiring to wait for thousands of years, after all. We’re kind of getting settled into our role of controllers of the banks, media, mind control rays, black helicopters, major governments, etc., and I think most Jews will be a little miffed if the Messiah comes.

Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Germans?

Oh…Animal House reference…

BUSTED!

Dave went to jail around noon today. Sadly, he wasn’t home when the cops showed up, so they had to pick him up from work.

The friend who owned the place asked me to call him when I got the call from the police, so I did, and he showed up about a minute behind them. Three cops: the nice one who took my statement, the guy who stood watch outside that didn’t really say anything, and the gruff, unfriendly chief of police who didn’t know the first detail about why they were arresting Dave.

They checked every room in the house for him, then radioed in to have the dispatcher call the grocery store where he works to confirm that he was there.

Friend had set a digital camera to its video record function and propped it up in his car before getting out, so he does have a really boring view of the exterior of the house with us and the cops standing around, then the cops leaving.

I was out later when the cops called my friend back to have him let them into the house to search Dave’s room and the rest of the house for evidence. Apparently they found checkbooks hidden under couch cushions and all sorts of places.

Regarding Dave’s property, the chief told my friend to hold onto it a while to see if he claims it, and if he doesn’t, just keep it.

I don’t know what the precise charges are or anything like that. I’ll be testifying at his preliminary, but I guess that’ll take a while to come around.

yea!

Yes!! Now I can breathe. Keep us updated as to what happens. Does he have the right to come back to the house if/when he gets out?

I don’t know what his rights are if he gets out. Nobody really seems to think he’s going anywhere anytime soon. I probably should have asked about that. I have to call the cops tomorrow about some things they found in the search that belonged to me that Dave stole, so I’ll try to ask then. He wouldn’t be more specific about the stolen items, but said that Dave took me for more than I thought. I really don’t get how that’s possible, though. I guess I’ll find out when I talk to them.

Hey, congratulations. Must be a real load off your mind.

And congrats too on keeping your cool.

Personally, it would be really hard for me to live for days in the same house as a thief, without my fist finding its way into his face.

Well, if he was grazing your mail, don’t be surprised if he has several credit cards in your name.

Dude, you have to PM the details so I can read about it in the Patriot.

Robin

And you should get your friend to put the “boring video” on youtube!

I saw neutron star’s post, and went: Yaaaaaay!!! :):):)

Congrats, this bust couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.

Yeeeeeeeehaw!

Hell. NurseCarmen is probably right.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinaly!

San Diego’s Dopers breathe a collective sigh of relief.

I’m glad I waited until today to read this thread all the way through. Quite a drama, and with a happy ending!

Damn I’m glad he’s finally been arrested. Now we can get back to the purpose of this thread: hijacks.
