ID the horribly bad 80's song

It was one of those one-hit wonders that got well-known because it was so silly–not as clever as “Convoy,” that’s how bad. The words consisted entirely (as far as I remember) of a deep-voiced guy going “Ha haa ha haaaaa, ha hahahaha haaaaa…”

I can’t remember anything else about it. It was not Psycho Killer (which goes ‘fa fa fa fa fa, better run…’). It was stupid.

Devo - Peekaboo

(One of my favorite songs. )

Nope, that’s not it! The ha ha’ing was sung and it was all there was.

Sounds like Da Da Da by Trio from Germany

Are you thinking of “Don’t You Just Know It” by Huey “Piano” Smith & the Clowns?

It’s not from the '80s, but it might have passed in some contexts.

Definitely not 80’s but Laughing Policeman fits the bill, more or less.

Da Da Da is better.

Those other two are nice to know of, but definitely nowhere close. I can sing the tune! Argh!

This is it by any chance?

Hee hee, nope, this was pre-techno.

If you can sing it, how about recording it and uploading it on Houndbite for us?

Or better yet, if you have a Mic attached to your computer, see if Midomi knows it?

The Rapping Duke!

ETA: I am so hype that I think I got one of these. I am always late with these, and I never guess one. Did I get it, Dangermom?? I loved the Rapping Duke though. I thought it was a fine song.

That was gonna be my guess, too…

It does indeed match the OP’s nomenclature.

Oh, sweet Jesus, this is bad.

Here’s an antidote.

Dude, unbelievable. I had forgotten the whole John Wayne rap thing. You are totally right and I take off my ten-gallon hat to you. Boy, that is one goofy song.

I was driving just now and thinking that my brain thought there was a connection to cowboys, but I thought it must be that I was remembering that “I wanna be a cowboy” song…

Oh…my…ghod. :stuck_out_tongue:

Woah. Thank you for this thread. I never had any idea what the line -

“Remember Rappin’ Duke? Duh-haa, duh-haa.
Never thought hip hop could take it this far.”

  • in Notorious B.I.G.'s “Juicy” was in reference to. Now I know.

Now, I’m in the limelight, cause I rhyme tight!
Sorry. I have a compulsion to finish hip-hop verses.

Now. Everyone, enjoy!

So much win in that song. But my favorite part is when he sings “Aretha Franklinnnn”. You gotta remember, at that time, Chaka Khan had a song that repeated her own name in the same way. Good times.
