I don’t know why, but this just popped into my head. This was a typical, low-budget B+W SciFi 50’s film. It was about an alien who comes to earth, with his friends-and they must live on human blood. The alien has a lot of money, so he pays bums and vagrants to come to his mansion-where they are bled dry! I can’t remember the title-anybody know?
It doesn’t quite fit your description, but the first thing to come to mind is Not Of This Earth .
I gave this description to a 1950’s expert and he came up with the same answer.
Sounds like “Not of This Earth.”
Sounds like Not of This Earth to me, too. The alien had a pet blood-drainer that dropped on victims’ heads like an Evil flying umbrella. It was built by classic 50s monster-builder Paul Blaisdell (who built It that Conquered the World, with its flying “bats”, among many other things).
Roger Corman made it. He remade it twice more, once with a now-legal Tracy Lords (and much nudity)
