this is exactly the sort of question that i usually know the answer to. I don’t know the answer, so I’m throwing it out to the SDMB.
This was a black and white movie that involved an alien who took human form. At one point he gives himself away by sticking his hands in a blowtorch flame without any injury. He takes care of the person who saw this, then “cleanses” his hands in the flame to get rid of any marks.
I saw this once in a movie theater, and I can’t recall the title, actors, or plot. It wasn’t anything obvious or famous like The Brain from Planet Arous or I Married a Monster from Outer Space. So what was it?
Martin Landau (maybe).
The alien invader was picked up because his face was perfectly symmetrical.
Give me a minute or so…
… and at one point the alien was going to be given a medical examination but he knew he would be in trouble because he had neglected to give himself a heartbeat so he grew a heart …
Still no answer on title. For some reason I was thinking of Zombies of the Stratosphere but that is not even close.
I took the liberty of posting your message on the IMDB board, and one of the experts posited that your movie might be War of the Satellites (1958).
Might be. I’ll look into it. Thanks.
Based on this page, it might be the flick I vaguely recall. And it seems to be what DrFidelius was thinking of, too.:
That’s It!!
I knew it was a “something nasty” of the “something space-y” type title. That’s why I kept looping back to the Zombies…
