ID this '60s/'70s song, please

I’m almost sure it’s by Donovan, but I’ve been looking for the last hour and haven’t found it.
No, I have no clue of the name. It’s about a musician who plays to play, even when he’s past his prime.

Snippets of lyrics as I remember them : …You want to hear the music, and you like to sing along…
…The lights are getting dimmer, and the crowds begin to thin…
…He just has to find another place to play…
Ok, I know it isn’t much, but, I’m sure someone here knows! Don’t let me down.

Guitar Man by Bread

linkee Guitar Man recognized the line without even having to Google it, and was the first to answer.

So much for being sure. :smack: Thank you so much!
