ID this board game please

Around 1970 I had a game where the board was a stepped pyramid with spaces along each tier. At the top of the pyramid was a sarcophagus that had a small plastic record inside. When instructed, one pushed a button on the sarcophagus and you heard instructions as to where to move.

You moved about each tier collecting rubys; you could ascend/descend to another tier at certain locations (or by mummy instruction).

Does this ring a bell?

That might be ‘Voice of the Mummy’ by Milton Bradley

QBurn

Thanks a million, that’s it. I just saw a picture of the game on a board game site. I kept thinking the name was “Sarcophagus” and my googling came up empty.

Do you guys remember a game where you had to perform an operation, and if your operation was done wrong, a buzzer would sound, so you had to do the operation carefully?

I think it was called Don’t Make the Buzzer Go Off.

It’s called Operation and you can still buy it.

I’m 99% sure Bryan was whooshing.

You’re 1% short of the mark, dan.

Did anyone ever play “Bridge It”? I don’t remember it very well, but each player (only two I think) had his/her own color (red or black?) straight, one-inch sticks. Object was to be the first to get across (bridge) the board, and you took turns placing your sticks. Very simple but lots of fun, somehow. I’d like to find another one of those.

MizQuirk

MizQuirk, that sounds very similar to a game called hex, which was actually invented by a college student who spent some time staring at his bathroom floor. Basically, the goal is to bridge your way across a hexagonal grid while your opponent tried to do the same in another direction.

That sounds vaguely similar to one of the all time classic board games, Twixt

Almost definitely Twixt.

I remember a game where you had these little metal peices and tried to collect money and property and basically create a monopoly. Anybody know what I’m talking about?

I think that game was “Go” cause they had this one square called “go” and everytime you passed it, you got $200

Drat. 1% short, as always.

Here’s your card.

Take out his spare ribs, for $100!

Oh, you’ll never do that! Don’t touch the sides!

It takes a very steady hand . . .

I did it! That’s $100 for me! (holds out hand)

Mom walking by: Can I play?

Operation. The wacky doctor’s game, from Milton Bradley.

It may be the same game essentially, but it was also marketed as “Bridge-It!” There were yellow and red plastic bridges on a plastic board. My mother had it as a child in the 60’s. I played with it when I was young. Not sure sure what happened to our copy…
