ID this comedy sketch (sperm donor)

Last weekend on SNL, there was a sketch where a young couple in a restaurant discussed their infertility problems, and Bad Bunny (and later Kenan Thompson), looking and acting really skeevy, volunteered to be sperm donors.

Thing is, I vividly remember another sketch comedy show–maybe Kids In the Hall–doing a very similar bit. In it, the young couple talks about possibly using a sperm donor, and a cartoon mobster at the next table just happens to have a jar of his own spunk with him, and pushily offers to get more.

Does this ring any bells with the Teeming Millions?

I can’t help you find that particular comedy sketch, but I would like to suggest a film on a related topic, “A Sinful Life,” with Anita Morris and Blair Tefkin. Baby Bump is conceived in an unusual way when mom is trapped in a sperm bank during a Los Angeles earthquake. Available on YouTube and elsewhere.

The story was originally a sketch at the LA improv theatre, Groundlings.

That rings zero bells, which tells me at least its not a Kids in the Hall sketch because I watched the hell out of that show.

Are you saying the mobster was a cartoon (think: Roger Rabbit) or that the mobster was cartoonish?

Off the top of my head, I can’t recall KITH having anything animated, much less interacting with the live actors.

Could it be from Family Guy? I was once wracking my brains trying to remember what show had a bit I remembered. I would have sworn it was a live action sit-com, but it ended up being from King of the Hill.

It was definitely live action. I wrote “cartoon gangster” to describe how he was dressed. Apparently this is a much more popular trope than I would have guessed.

He was cartoonish. Pushy, pinstriped suit, wide fedora.

Maybe it was MAD TV? It was from one of the shows I watch less faithfully than SNL.

Will Sasso played a “cartoon mobster” type in MadTV’s “pool hustler” sketch, complete with pinstriped suit and fedora. Maybe they brought the character back?

If we were on the Mandela Effect subreddit, this would be conclusive proof that it never happened.

The amount of I “DISTINCTLY” remember and I “VIVIDLY” remember from the true believers on that sub is astounding. And it’s always stuff that clearly never happened.

Conversely, I have vague recollections of things that actually did happen…

There were a ton of sketch shows concurrent with Kids in the Hall back in the 1990s because Comedy Central was a guaranteed market for syndication after a first run on the CBC, HBO, or an American network. Vacant Lot with Mark McKinney’s brother was almost indistinguishable from KinH to the casual viewer. There was also Exit 57 with Stephen Colbert and Amy Sedaris on HBO, Almost Live from Seattle, In Living Color and Mad TV on Fox, and many more. Good luck with your search.
