I read this at least twice when I was a kid, it was so good.
Here are some of the few points I remember:
Story about a fairly unpopular boy of about 10, skinny for his age. His mom is a sports writer, I believe. Mom counts the slices of lunch meat in the fridge to make sure the boy is eating.
Our boy writes stories about how he’d like to get back at the bully in class. Kid’s name was Dewey Balasko. In the stories, the kid calls Dewey “Doody Bigasso.”
The boy has a crush on a girl in class named Cokie.
I seem to remember there being a blood drive, or possibly booster shots at school.
The book itself had a brown cover, maybe with an old man on the front along with the boy.
Any help would be appreciated. This has been driving me nuts for 10 years. :smack:
Now all we need is for somebody to find the book I was looking for supposedly callled the sign of the acorn, involving siblings being reunited by acorn shaped birthmarks.
I think “you are my new hero!” is a suitable alternate for “Thank you”.
Don’t mention it. I’ve been active here for about 16 months and I think this is only the second time I’ve ever provided an answer to a factual question. I’m not out of the hole yet.
