Old movie. I’d guess 1950’s. It may or may not have been a war movie, if it was, I’m thinking WWII…but it could have been older, I really have no idea.
The scene I remember…A guy, possibly the main character, maybe a supporting character is laying on a cot. There’s at least one other person in the room with him waiting for the phone to ring. Whether or not the person on the cot was to live or die was based on a call the other guy was waiting for (if you don’t hear from me by 9:00 let him go/kill him)…it’s possible the person on the cot wasn’t the one who’s life was at stake, but someone else in the building somewhere.
The only part I really remember clearly is that the guy on the cot had a nail (or a pin or paperclip or staple or something along those lines), he reached back between the cot and the wall with one arm down to the floor where the phone cord ran around the edge of the room and pushed the nail through the cord so the call wouldn’t get through.
Any thoughts?
