ID this movie

This was something I caught about half an hour of about 5-6 years ago, on TV. I don’t know if it was a movie, a TV-show or something else entirely. I missed both the beginning and the end, and I have no idea what it was called.

It consisted of a bunch of people (I think all were women) talking directly into the camera, telling (as far as I could tell) disconected stories. It would clip back and forth between the different storytellers. One of them was going on about being abused by her father, another was detailing some strange theory about being able to steal “energy” from people while she gave them massages. She was going to write a book about her life, and call it “The Thief of Energy”. I think she was in prison at some point.

The whole thing was really strange. And I could have sworn one of the women was Susan Sarandon, but I can’t find anything like it on IMDB. So, someone who looks like Susan Sarandon was in it. That’s all.

I’ve never seen it, but from what I’ve heard about it you might have caught part of The Vagina Monologues. As far as Susan Sarandon, or a lookalike, being in it, I couldn’t say.

That’d be 1998’s I’m Losing You, adapted from the Bruce Wagner novel. Frank Langella, Roseanna Arquette, and Gina Gershon.

I actually found it by googling “Thief of Energy” and came up with the novel; then I googled to see if the novel had been turned into a film, and … bingo.

No, I don’t think that’s it. I’ll take a look at “I’m loosing you”, but there seem to be…you know, scenes and camera-work and stuff in it. There wasn’t anything like that in this. Just people talking to the camera directly, one at a time.

Huh. It would seem amazing for there to be two fictional massage therapists who are writing biographies about being a “thief of energy,” but hey, you’re the one who saw the movie!

Here’s a review of the book, I’m Losing You, from Amazon. This doesn’t sound familiar?

Hm. Ok, I give, that does sound like it. Thanks. I’ll go take a look. I must have seen less of it than I thought.
